It justs makes 3/16" just that much smaller than it should be. I still use the 5.5mm cr@p hose but would probably go with the too large 1/4" than the too small 3/16". Either that or flip a coin and go with the winner since they are both losers.

What can you tell us about this, M? From a quick check it seems to be 7 mm which is a lot larger and sloppier than 1/4".
We need 5.5 mm and not 3/16", 1/4", or 7 mm. _________________ 71 Superbug

I did the math: 3/16" is .74mm smaller than 5.5mm and 1/4" is .85 larger. |
This is from the other recent thread. I have a hard time believing that .74mm is going to cause any issues with using the 3/16" fuel line on a 5.5.mm fuel fitting. I would have to expect that any issue that may arise from this would be far outweighed by the issues that come from using non-compatible German line.
I am considering changing all of my brass fuel taps to standard sizes to eliminate this issue altogether. Sounds like fun. _________________ nothing |

I have this on my Split-Window Bus, O'Reillys had a roll the first time I went there. I went to get more and they didn't have any and had no idea what I was talking about.
There are no fitment problems:
It slips on with no effort though (loose) over my upright engine's original smooth fittings so you do have to clamp it down more than Continental lines. _________________ How to Post Photos

I'm considering it also. Tank outlet, steel line around the fan shroud, fuel pump and carb(s). Not really fun. _________________ 71 Superbug

has anyone found a source for the ~1/2" line between the fuel pump and filter? The one i removed was 1/2" but I don't think it was rated for the higher pressure. I checked all around and the largest I found was 3/8"
That's the last section I need to replace before starting the engine install.
Thanks. _________________ '79 Westy 2.0L "Hiltrude"

Any feedback on this? It looks like for 5 meters shipped it is approx $53.00. Not too bad for the correct fitting 30r9. _________________ "You're either on the bus, or you're off the bus." ~kk

I'vw bought 3 meters of 5.6mm 30r9 fuel line from AFS in the UK. They take paypal and the fuel line arrived in about a week.
Compared to OEM German 5.5mm fuel line, 30r9 has a thicker wall and is multi-fuel rated.

Does it have the liner in it and does it say 30r9 on the outside? _________________ "You're either on the bus, or you're off the bus." ~kk

I believe it was about $34 USD shipped for 3 meters of the 5.6mm fuel line back in late February. No, it isn't lined and its much stiffer than OEM.
Busdaddy, why did you buy the 4.8mm hose instead of the 5.6mm ID?
