Ok so I was installing a new empi 1.5qt deep sump on my engine today and everything was going smoothly untill it came time to bolt the oil screen plate back on to the new longer stud, when I slipped and lost the 10mm lock nut in to the depths of my engines sump Shocked . I fished around in there with a magnet for about an hour without success and Im pretty sure having the nut in there cant be good for the engine and at any point Im ocd when it comes to my engines so I have to get it out. Does any body have any suggestions on how to get past the oil pick up tube in to the sump that doesnt totally require tairring apart the engine? As I said before i screwed up on this one Embarassed and any help would be appreciated.

While not ideal, as long as you have the oil strainer in place that nut will just drop down into the sump later and cause no problem.

Im positive the little bugger got lost in the sump, I thought i had gotten it threaded on to the stud and when i let go of it, it just fell right in and sounded like it bounced once or twice inside the sump.

Sometimes this can be a blessing on a new rebuild when yuh accidentally drop a 13 mm gen stand nut down the oil fill and decide to tear everything apart to get it and find you forgot to reinstall the oil pick up tube that was removed after yuh found it was fitting too slack. There is a god out there!!
