Yesterday; Installed and adjusted the hood (still needs some tweaking), installed the final body trim & dash trim, put the seats in the car to get them out of my way and gave the body it's first wax since the cut 'n buff. Door rubber, mech's, handles and remotes are in; no longer do I need to tape my doors shut!
Next up, engine gaskets showed up (after a long USPS shipping debacle) so I'm going to start tearing that down.
Things might slow up here for a bit as the next few things on my list are going to be quite expensive, e.g. headliner, ragtop, window rubber, etc... My parts budget is going to need time to recuperate.
In the meantime, pictures:

Hahaha, thanks man. I've just taken a break to save some cash and been out enjoying the summer weather. Now that it's getting cold out ill get back on it. Next up is pulling the tranny to re-seal the axles, they're leaking. Better now before the engine goes in.
I'll also be working on the engine this winter; all new seals, carb overhaul and upgrading the distributor. So hopefully next spring I'll have the engine in the car and running. _________________ - e

Wow, it's been awhile since I last updated this...
Since I had a leaky transmission, I pulled it and reinstalled the axles seals (tube to tranny was where the leak was). I think I've got it good this time, so after reassembly and torqueing the drums back on, I poured in fluid and we'll see.
The wiring harness is completely installed, I have some cable management left, but it feels good to have replaced the rats nest that was there before.
And as I stated earlier, this winter is all about the engine, which I tore apart this weekend.
The plan was to go only as far in as I felt needed and replace gaskets and such... However, while I was removing the fuel pump, half the plastic fuel pump spacer snapped off and fell in the engine. After much soul searching and reasoning with myself, I concluded the only way forward was to split the case and clean it out. Thankfully I did, because that plastic was a rotten mess and came out in pieces. It's probably for the best, splitting the case, since I was nearly there anyway... I might as well go whole hog while I had it that far apart.
Over all its' a pretty clean engine. Two different heads (one square and one round) so I may go on the hunt for a matching set. I'd also like to get a .019 distributor (Glenn, I'm looking at you) and a 28PICT carb, the fuel pump appears to be asking for a rebuild and I may look into an upgrade for the cylinders and pistons to 83mm since it's a simple bolt on upgrade.
I'd like to find a local shop that can clean and scrub down the case, as filling a Rubbermaid tub with diesel or another cleaning solvent at my house does not sound appealing to me. If I need any machine work, I'm open to recommendations in the area (Puget Sound). And if any of this sounds crazy, let me know, I'm always open for a sanity check. _________________ - e

For a Puget Sound machine shop, I've heard great things about Northwest Connecting Rod. I think their new shop is in Kent.

Sorry, slow moving cause the engine is still in progress; last word I got it was going through glass beading, then on to align bore and decking. New crank, lifters, oil pump and valves actually arrive today; I got AA big bore kit last month. I have a rebuilt 28PICT-1 and Bosch 019 ready to go.
I've received the headliner, ragtop cover and some other miscelaneous interior items; however I'm waiting for it to get warmer out in the garage before I take that on. _________________ - e

That is the worst news ever!! Glass beading just ruined your case, DONT USE IT!!! |
Sorry, I meant the heads were being bead blasted, didn't mean to imply the case was. _________________ - e

I also went the 83 mm big bore route and couldn't be happier with 'em. The only thing I wish I would of done was treated the cast iron exterior with something. The paint that is on there didn't hold up very long .In the photo you can see I treated the push rod tubes with por 15 and it's working good.
