I have searched and cant find a clear answer.

When installing double thrust cam bearings in a 2.1 case that had single thrust bearing installed, one halve of the case has space for the bearing tang, while the other does not.

Do I have to cut a tang space in the other side of the case? Both of my new Mahle bearings have tangs on them.

Thanks.

You only need one tang to secure the bearing. It was that way on Bug engines as well. I just carefully file off the tang on one of the two shell halves.

That is interesting, my new KS double thrust bearing have no tangs at all, neither did the original KS double thrust that I took out of the engine. I know I'm not answering your question but you tweaked my interest so I has to go check. Also my 2.1 case has the notch for the tang on only one side, like yours.
