|
|
Hi!
Some idiot drove into my car this weekend and broke my Albert Swanneck Mirror in the drivers side.
Here in Denmark they are not that common. I have sourced a regular Albert Mirror for the door.
The heads are the same type and as my Swanneck arm is okay i'm thinking about just swapping the heads.
How do i dissasmble the mirrors properly?
My mirrors:

The mirros i'm going to buy

As my swanneck is trashed i can see that the mirror is hold flush with the housing by a spring and a flat washer.
The head is hold on to the arm by a phillips screw with a kind of ball.
I think i can transfer those parts to the other mirror. But how do i get the glass and the plastic around it out of the head without breaking it?
It is probably fairly simple but as mentioned before - these Mirrors is not very common here |

Push in on the glass, it has a spring behind it. Very small flat screwdriver or a credit card will catch the edge of the plastic seal while pushing in on the glass. Once you get one piece of the plastic started you can work around the entire diameter of the mirror to pull it out. This will expose the small straight slot screw, spring and washer that is holding the head onto the arm. I have found that the small screw holding the head on is usually rusty, spray it a be careful. |

and remember about that SPRING...as it will toss your glass on the floor and break it real fast (don't ask me how I know!) _________________ I own a copy of "The Car of the Century" by Garwood. This means I am authorized to act like a twat in thesamba forums. |
