Thank you!! I was thinking about making some wood gates like the westfalia wide bed, but at the end decided to try making them in steel. The truck is now waiting for paint and I cant wait to see it in color!

Aitor-Why no pics of the off-the-hook frame fab for the beam, huh? Are you holding out on the fellas that are following this thread? Of the work you have done and documented so far, that, amigo, ranks right up there at the top. I was just shaking my head in amazement. I think your next project should be a BD Binz. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Thank you Cru62!!! I had to find a way to make the front chassis because I could not find one here. It was not that hard. First, I made templates from my original-rusted front chasis. Second, I had a client who cut pieces with an oxygen - acetilene pantograph cut two for me using the closest match in steel they have. Later another friend with a bending machine made some of the bends trying to match exactly the original ones, because his machine couldn't make them all I had to finish hammering myself the last two bends. After that came the welding, I used the parts that I made and some others from a brazilian split-bay that I bought. The nuts to hold the front beam were made by one of my employees in our shop as some other small pieces that I needed to finish the front of the truck. Now I am waiting to have the truck back and start working on the front beam and see if everything match perfect, at least I tried with the steering box and it is ok.
Here are some more pictures of that part.

You know after seeing your build thread, I won't complain about my build. LOL I had to fix some hacked up stuff from POs. I'm glad I don't have to tear the whole bus apart... not yet anyhow. LOL _________________ Anthony

Absolutely amazing work! I'm just learning on my single cab these days. Once I build up some skills, I hope to do a project with the level of excellence you have! _________________ '69 Bay Window Deluxe

Finally I have my truck back and it is slowly getting shape. I decided to go on a no-original color scheme, basically because the truck was so far gone to beging with that it does not matter to do something different. I am waiting two months to polish the pait, that way it should get stronger and will shine more. Now I am installing the wiring and some stuff in the cabin while I wait for the transmission and at the same time I am working on flipping my spindles (using Brazilian Split/Bay parts) and narrowing my beam. The good thing is I am going to be able to use discs and everything from Volkswagen. In the back I am going to do an IRS conversion suing Brazilian parts too, and some drums from Creative Engineering in the UK to be able to use Wide 5 bolt pattern in a later IRS rear hubs. Hope you enjoy the pictures!.

Thank you!!! I am working on my beam now, it has been more work than I thought at the beginning but is coming along nicely. I hope it fits Ok in the front chasis that I had to make.
