Just a quick update...
Our Thing saw all of about 150 miles in 2014, and I will remedy that This year!!
My daughter and I took her to Buga Paluza 17, in Chattanooga and brought home the 1st place in Thing Custom class... Totally unexpected, especially with about 10 Things in attendance!!
Anyway, rain hit us hard on Sunday, but we had a blast and made more memories with Our Thing!!
She did great on the 60 mile drive each way. I75, ~68mph at 3500 rpm!! 17.6 mpg for the trip. Not terrible, but not great..
I believe my venturis are too big, and it's causing low rpm stumbles.. I have some smaller ones to put in, and give it a go!!
If I can't get this Single IDF to work, it'll be onto Brand New baby Webers!!
More updates to come this year for sure!! _________________ '74 Thing, "Our Thing"....

Finally did my pedal cluster resto!!! It was a PiTa, but a worthy project with fantastic results!
I used Unique-parts and used their upgraded clutch shaft, and their speed ball accelerator pedal kit, that's some very nice stuff!!
Something not mentioned in their tech videos, is that the clutch arm retainer pin is a Monster to get knocked out!! It took a LOt of soaking in PB Blaster over a week period, as well as lots of Heat and a BFH....

Nice work Joe
I remember trying to disassemble my original pedal cluster for restoration.
Lets say I pounded that pin and pounded.
you have more patience.
out went the og cluster for a new one
fear not, the stock assembly was later given to another fellow Thinger to live on |

Looks good. What carbs did you end up with?
What disc brake set up do you have in the front? Did you use the same master cylinder? |
