Hi All,
I just bought a Proctor Silex PS-P60B17L-D5 .6 cu. ft. microwave today.
It just fits under the rear seat of my 85 Westy. I've been looking for one small enough for awhile. Thought I'd let everyone know that this one wedges itself in place but not too tightly. I did remove my leaky rear heater, so I don't know if it fits with a heater.
Woo Hoo! popcorn and baked potatoes on a camping trip.

Sorry,
I was going to add that I got mine at K Mart, but I was afraid people would think I was shilling for them. I think Sears has them too.
I got the dial type on purpose because I feel they are more rugged. They had a all digital one that didn't look much bigger but then you don't have any depth left under the seat. I could have raised it about 1 1/2" and gained some depth. |

My Half Pint is a dial type. I like it fine. If this KMart/Sears one is smaller, I will like it better! _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

I just installed a 0.0015 MW MR. Fusion. Now I won't have to get near those nasty campfire coals anymore when I want baked potatoes or popcorn.

Measurements please Would it fit in the cabinet under the sink like r39o's super sweet install? Too much under my rear bench and I need my rear heater thanks for sharing the info. _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

Why do you need a microwave? Frozen burritos? I don't get it..... _________________ 1986 Westy - Billie Jean

NO EXTERIOR DIMENSIONS!
From the picture it does not look square like the Half Pint.
Emmm.....price at $52 is very nice, too.
Maybe I gotta mosey on down there..... _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

Had a Half Pint microwave. I used to shift it from my Eurovan CV to my 85 Westfalia. It worked. Best with two aux. batteries and the engine running...
Way more heat in that propane stove system already installed in your camper. Way more! _________________ wiartonallan

That's the one drawback with the Mr. Fusion; it's only as big as a coffee can, but that damn flux capacitor is bigger than a 55 gallon drum.

I finally got to measure the Proctor Silex. It is 17 3/4" wide, 10 3/8 high, & 12 3/4" deep plus 1" for the handle. About 3/4" of the depth on the back is a hump that is smaller than the back. This allows the the microwave to sit pretty well in the space under the seat. |
