So I washed and cleaned out "Pinot" yesterday after driving down from Portland. Went out this morning and it's gone.

Funny Keys are in my pocket and no van... Sigh

Pinot is a 91 Burgundy Carat stock alloys with Nokians and a drivers side rear fender dent a cracked rear fiber glass bumper, pipe hitch.

Oregon Plates
356 ALL

I built Pinot from a dead, drippy beast into a coastal cruiser, engine from Doka Eric, tranny from another and cv's and wow just repaired a blown coolant T in the parking lot of Home Depot in Imperial Beach, Shark Bite T's are great, 3 bucks...
going on now a 5 year love affair with my Vanagon.
Just finished the Police Report, nice officer, I'm sad.

Martin

Thanks All

That is terrible! I'll echo Ahwahnee in saying that I hope you get it back without too much damage. My friend's truck was stolen not too long ago and he spotted it a week later just 6 blocks from his house abandoned on a side street. The cop said in most cases the vihicle is used for a short period of time and then left within a few miles of the house.

I really hope it comes back to you.

WOW. Sorry to see that happening in America's Finest City.

You mention you were in IB and if you are that close to the border anything can happen down there. It may be in Mexico now or transporting illegals or both or none. Can't say.

They are not exactly high theft vehicles, but left stock are not hard to steal either.

So do tell about any character marks it may have so we can ID it down here. The license plates may or may not be still with the van.

Good luck.

I'll keep an eye out up here in Sacramento. Most Vanagon owners tend to notice every Vanagon on the road around us. I hope someone spots it. So sorry man.

Very true. I Know where a majority of the Vanagons belong in San Pedro. I don't think I've ever seen a burgundy van around here. All the other colors of the rainbow though. Ill keep an eye out.

Sorry to hear about this!

I was in Seattle today and saw a burgundy red carat. Then I saw it had an Oregon plate. I immediately followed it and pulled up this post on my iphone. Unfortunately, the plate # didnt match, it has a peace sticker near the license plate, and a roof rack. Sad

Also, It would be sure a long drive back to Seattle. Believe me...I know...I've been commuting back and forth from Seattle to Yuba City.

My van was stolen in California, and the police found it a MONTH later (undamaged). So don't give up hope.
