Kim, your bus is an inspiration! I needed this as my 71 is pretty run down after years of use and neglect. Keep the posts and pics coming!

After I read a post here on the Samba, I decided to order some curtain hardware so I could finally hang my curtains. I have been just using magnets when I needed to use them, then take them down when I didn't.

The hardware arrived to day. Very Happy

Put the curtains on the hooks. I may need to actually sew them to the hooks eventually, but for now I just pulled the material threw the hook.

Like my fix for my air vent? LOL I have another vent but figured might as well use this one till it can't be used anymore. Very Happy

Now we can open the slider without having to remove the curtain. Very Happy

I wasn't sure what the bottom tie back was for, so I used it for the bottom of the curtain. Very Happy

Now I need to make some for the doors, and eventually for the windshield. I use my "eyeball" cover for now though. So no big hurry. Very Happy

Or it would work good if I wanted to make the slider curtains long enough to go down to the floor. LOL That would make it so we could have the door open and still have some privacy. Very Happy

Today I figured out a way to carry my bike now that the roo bar is on and I couldn't use the bike rack I had for the front before I put the bar on. I just used the main part of the rack and hung it over the top roo bar and used pipe brackets to attach it to the bottom bar. Very Happy

I liked it till the night it fell off on the way to work. LOL Was loud the rest of the way and the way home. LOL It broke right at the muffler, cheap muffler. LOL So another one was made and this time a support bracket was added to help with the weight of the pipe.

I like it just fine. Can;t really tell that much a difference between it or the smaller one I had before. I don't really see the dirt getting kicked up by it, but then again, I don't drive in the dirt to often. Very Happy

Well, today I had to make my decision. To put new lino in or leave the old and just have a bunch of little holes. I finally decided on new. Before that though we installed the roof panel. One thing I learned is, by cutting the pattern out like I did, the grain was going the opposite way that the board had to bend, to bend into place on the roof. We did manage to get it bent in to place, but it did break a bit. You can't see the break though. It is on the top. I lucked out. I will look for the baltic birch when I get ready to do the front. ( Thanks for the tip bigbore.) So yah, it will have two different types of wood, but oh well, we aren't going for a beauty contest!! Very Happy

Where did you get the birch panels from? What stain did you use, I like the color, thanks

Once that was up, and the lino was down, it was time to start putting the furniture back in!!!

I had to do some repair on the overhead shelf so I have to put that in tomorrow after the glue dries over nite! Then I have to do some minor wood glueing on the sink and also do the plumbing on it. Then that can go back in.

Next big thing to do is pull the motor!!! I will hopefully be getting to that maybe next weekend!!

I got the 5x5 headliner panel from Anderson Lumber in North Highlands CA. It is off of Roseville rd near the freeway. The rest of the panels are from Home Depot.

The stain is Minwax Ipswich Pine 221

Hey! I finally have an update. Very Happy

I haven't been doing to much to the bus as there isn't much to do but drive it now. That is a good thing. Very Happy But, after seeing a ad for a circuit writer, I thought hey, maybe I can fix my rear defroster. So I bought one. With not much luck, that failed. It was to hard to work the pen with the glass up in the air, or even with the door shut and me sitting inside the bus. That in itself was hard to do too. LOL So a friend of mine told me that they actually sell that same stuff, but in liquid form. After a search online, i found it and purchased a bottle. It was not what i was hoping for. This is what it did when I was applying it.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

But before that, I had to mask off the window. That was a job in itself. Very Happy

Once masked off I began to paint the stuff on. Like I said, it didn't work like I was hoping. I was hoping for it to be more liquidified. It wasn't and it dried and clumped up pretty fast. I ended up using the hole jar. Quite a bit was lost do to it getting to dry to fast.

I let it sit in the sun for a few hours and then when and pulled off the tape.

You can see where it needed more in some of the areas and it really came out pretty dry or chalky. Not sure how it will hold up to cleaning. I may by another jar just for touch ups, but it's not cheap so I'm going to wait to see how well it works this winter. I know some of it may not work do to the breaks in it, but if some of it does, then it may be worth another jar.

I did do a small test with a test light and i got power further down one of the lines then I had gotten before I put the silver stuff on. So I know it does work as far as getting power down to part of it. The real test will be this winter. I'll give an update on how well it works then.

Yah, that is the easy way. My way, I get to keep the rubber we had already replaced a while back ago, and also I get to keep all my stickers I have collected the last few years. Very Happy Maybe one day when my stickers are worn and not visible, I'll buy a new window. Or maybe I'll buy one later down the road and save it just in case they go obsolete. LOL

It is a hit and miss repairing the strip.
You need this for your stickers.
