Hey folks, I'm doing a rebuild on my own jalousie window. I got everything powder coated black and it looks great. However, using grey seals doesn't look great. I've tried SEM paint with adhesion promoter and the paint comes off the rubber. Does anyone know how I can make these seals black? _________________ 1987 Vanagon GL - Wolfsburg Edition |

Im a Vanagon guy at the moment, and I got the full kit with the large grey oval seal. I don't need it for the Vanagon conversion, so I have it for gifting. PM me if it would be of use to you. _________________ '87 Westy 'Flossie','86 Westy 'R1','86 tintop GL - Subi2.2 'J2','83.5 stock tintop L 'ZoomBus','74 Karmann Ghia, '63 Notch |

Heck yes it's very tedious. It is definitely worth it though because water does not go into my bus anymore. _________________ 1972 Westfalia P30 hardtop Campmobile [On-going Restoration]

This thread and the videos have been wildly helpful and I am currently tackling my first rebuild.
My question (while those screws on the top piece soak in PB Blaster) right now is if there's anything that can get fussy about getting the individual window slats out. Figured I could work on those while the top screws soak.
But now I'm starting to think that I need the top off first in order to relieve any inward pressure on those individual slats.
This project is a pure lesson in patience. _________________ 9th Owner of a 1971 Tintop Westy

Rv shops sell a putty tape. Others have used a silver window sealant/sylicon _________________ Special Thanks to:

Call WW and ask just for those seals. Only vendor that does them right. If not call busdepot _________________ Special Thanks to:

I was exaggerating. It is 19 parts. The one listed in the original post.
I am also sorry to the poster of the thread and the video for coming off like a tool.
I appreciate the fact that the multi video tutorial was done. I wanted to post a single video that covered the steps from start to finish and point out some difficulties along the way. |

With no experience, it took a week of my time on and off to do the first one. (20 hours?).
The second one took a couple hours BUT I knew what to expect AND I did not replace the glass seals (they weren't leaking and I had no more patience) |

I tried to watch the 30 some part jalousie window video.
Then I realized I needed to post something better.

Wow, that is definitely a winter project. I'd rather do this when the snow is two feet high! Thanks, Jeff |

To replace just seal 3 hours sounds little light(4-6). If you mean to polish and install seals it's more like 40 hours a window. _________________ Special Thanks to:

Hi Curtis, thanks for going to the trouble of doing the tutorial. It is a big help! I have the seal kits now, but this would be an ideal winter project. It looks like maybe 3 hours or more per window. Does that sound right? Jeff |

Thank you. The Jaluosie refresh is one of the most labor intensive projects on a Camper. My hats off to all those that go down this road;) _________________ Special Thanks to:
