|
|
Went through my Westy with Colin yesterday. Decel valve is leaking and charcoal canister is the wrong one for my bus. I searched, and looked in the classifieds, even googled, havent seen them. I assume you can't get either new? I found one decel on ebay, but as ambigious as the description is, and the nature of the part, I really dont want to buy it off there. Charcoal canister on my bus is the wrong one, an earlier, smaller one. I want one that fits in the bracket.
I suppose my question is are either of these available new, or do I need to keep scouring the classifieds for reputable sellers?

I think you're out of luck as far as new goes. I'd watch the Samba Ads or try someone like Busted Bus or Way Out Salvage. They'd probably have those. _________________ -Russ

there are usually a dozen of each for sale but for some reason not right now. If Ken at Busco can't help try Avery's Air Cooled in Washington. They have many good parts. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

try that up here. I see people down there wash cars because they get some dust on them you would have to wash your car everyday and that will not be enough. We wash cars when you can't tell what color they are anymore and sometimes that only takes a day. _________________ where its cold and snowy |

Thats what I have now. Little bitty round one. Flops around in my ovalish bracket. I'll post a pic here tomorrow. His bus was FANTASTICALLY clean. Every. Stinking. Bit. I laid under it with him and had a conversation about exhaust and undercarriage detail.
Like I told him, I thought I had a nice bus till he showed up. _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

Ohh....., you said you had an early one and wanted a late one, guess not quite that late huh?
OK how bout this?: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1154417
Not super early but not a late one either
That decel valve looks common enough, watch the classifieds or post a WTB with a big picture as many have no idea what it is. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I guess I'll just post a WTB ad tomorrow with some better pics. How did I miss that late canister?!
Also, best places to get the little "T"'s ? Being EEC valve to the vac advance and the one from the decel to the FPR line? Mine are crummy. Must not be searching for the right things. T, tee, dunno.
Edit: German Supply has them. Wonder if they are a standard size I can get from a FLAPS. I'll try that first. Talking to myself now.... _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

At least you have that braided U shaped hose and it looks like its in good shape. I've been looking for a decent one of those that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I made one out of a heater hose wrapped in a spring to hold its shape. _________________ -Russ

Contact Scott at Germansupply.com. He more than likely has a good used decel valve and the correct charcoal cannister and clamp which can easily be rebuilt. Their are several tutorials on this including Ratwell.com Good luck. |

Where can I get some specific info on that decel valve? I'm after one that can allow the A/F mix to flow through it when provided with a vacuum signal to utilise the decel fitting on the top of my Holley progressive. Mostly because the Hitachi I took off did something similar but in a different way with an internal valve. _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner). Hello,
Two places that would have that part, most likely, but worth trying out. One is busted bus (www.bustedbus.com), and the other would be the parts place (http://www.partsplaceinc.com/). Another place would be Interstate used auto parts in california (http://www.interstateusedparts.com/). Those are the ones that are on top of my head right now.
Best of luck in your search.
