NWGhia, which one? KROQ based in Pasadena for at least the last 20-25 years. Jackfm is recent but i thought it was LA based too.

I have 2 little clip questions. Top one in the photo is off the window crank mech...who has these? The bottom one..What is it, where does it go? Thanks

Btw, KROQ hasn't been in Passadena since 1986.

Jack FM is a format in multiple markets, all of the stations are owned by CBS radio.

Long story. Plan on moving back one day.

How long have you lived in San dimas? I can remember a time in the 90s when we had Car Custom in Azusa, Barrett in Covina, and G&H right on the Glendora San dimas line. No waiting on shipping in those days. Boy have things changed.

Been here since late 70's. I remember CarCustom, G&H, Barrett Enterprises up on Foothill then on Arrow Hwy. I am actually very good friends w/ entire barrett family, in fact just picked up new pistons and liners from Barrett senior and his son is helping me with blueprinting my engine build.

Been negligent in updating this...I really have been working on it.
Filled the inside with Fatmats' Rattletrap, the thick stuff, filled the stampings and then once over the top. hope it keeps things quiet.
Have engine built to short block after like 4 mock ups to measure deck, piston height (location in liner) rocker geometry.... Awaiting my copper shims and alum push rods. Had the entire assembly dynamically balanced and now its time for FINAL assembly. It will be a 2017, New case, stroker clearanced, shuffle pinned, and full flowed. Bob Demello 78.4 with AA 90.5s stroker pistons and 5.4 H-beams. Engle 120 cam, Bosch 010 dist, pair of dell 40's. Looking forward to getting this in and running.

Weather was nice last night and this morning. Got my tin painted. I used some Rustoleum 1000 degree BBQ paint, semi gloss/satin black. Pics make it just a little flatter than actual.

Finally finished my long block and am mocking up all the tin i had painted. I was worried I would have problems because when I worked the tin it was on a stock stroked 1776, and this is a 78.4X90.5, 2017. Width is very close to what it was. I need to finish working over the shroud and painting it. But first decide if Im mounting the coil to the shroud or weld the holes and mount coil elsewhere for a cleaner look.
Questions, Why 2 holes at accelerator cable spot? What is the purpose of the two holes on the lower right side of the shroud and the 2 on the lower left side? Thanks.

Outstanding thread Darrell.

That is going to be one fine automobile when your done.

You'll have to have a new birth certificate made up indicating
that you manufactured it Very Happy

re. the body work. Man, I ain't looking forward to tearing into
mine as body work tain't my cup-o-tea. My past poor
attempts at it just made it worse Very Happy Hummm, you interested in
another project? Very Happy

re. Jack FM, yep, theres a Jack FM way down here in the
hills & dales of E TN too. Theres quite a few syndicated radio
shows around my parts, seems to be the way commerical
radio has gone now-a-days.

Keep the updates coming.

That'll be one nice motor!

The larger holes...one under the throttle cable tube and one each on the lower left & right side...are for clips that hold the spark plug cables in place. The oval holes near the lower left & right side and a round hole just to the inside of them (not visible in your photo) are for air-control shutters. They are linked together by an arm that lives on the back side of the shroud and are operated by a rod that connects to the thermostat.

A question for you: What's that red goop you're using on your cam & lifters?

thanks for the guidance on the shroud holes guys. I was thinking the low holes were for the thermostat linkage. I dont think it is critical in my area and im not using it. I wont weld the holes up as I may add them back down the road.
Volfandt, I had almost no bodywork experience til this car, I learned by watching at my friends shop and then by doing... over and over again. I block sanded for month after month after month.
@ rcooled, The red goop is cam/lifter lube from Engle, green is BradPenn assembly lube i used on the rest of the assembly. I plan on writing up a more detailed post regarding all the components of my engine build soon.
@ swavananda, I have a NOS set of Dell 40's I bought very cheap at last years Classic swapmeet. BTW, NOS does not always=perfect. I had to disassembled, clean and re-build them. For linkage I went with something a little different. Its called Sync-Link and its a pulley system devised by another samba member.

Finally got my wiring harness finished today. Well almost i still have a horn ground issue. I got lights, high and low beams, turn sigs, park lights, reverse lights, oil, turn and alt lights in speedo, a third brake light yet to be installed and all gauges working on the dimmer... it was an exhausting experience. Still need to add a couple warning lights for brake switch and oil filter in the 2 dash holes in the 67 dash. I have a real cluster F of gauges that dont all match, an early (65) speedo, vdo orange needle tach, vdo oil temp and pressure, CHT and a Moon volt meter. Two, volt and CHT are located on the frame of the back seat, I stole this idea from someone on here, sorry i dont remember who it was but thanks. Tach is in the clock hole and I have a mechanical gas gauge in stock location. Oil temp and pressure are under dash next to ash tray. Still need to tidy the wiring up especially in engine compartment. Im ready to start the motor for the first time and break in the cam. Here are some pics....

Still at this build, Classic 2013 or Bust!
I have been looking for a radio delete plate or something to stuff in the dash to cover up the hole. I did some SAMBA research and learned about Sapphire i,II,III...and for 67 was 12 volt Sapphire V. At Drag Day early this month found 3 sapphire V's $160-250 then in back of a guys stuff I found this one. Its dirty cracked, pitted chrome and chipped face...ugly.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Guy wanted $50 and said it worked, I pushed the buttons and they didnt move the dial...so we agreed to $30 bucks. I went back around the swap looking for tuning knobs and found some close to correct (later Sapphire)for anothr $4 bucks. Then last week I sent it to "RadioPhil" I found on the SAMBA. Phil says $60 bucks, he got it working well and he cleaned, lubed, replaced capacitors, replaced the front cracked plastic piece, put on nicer chrome buttons and replaced the chipped Sapphire V piece too. Now, 4 days later looks like this

Pic doesnt show how nice it came back. Thanks RadioPhil!

Next update I ordered my side trim from ISP, the $200 stainless and got it in just 2 days, fast. It looks good and its heavy. I piggybacked on EddieRays suggestion with the NAPA clips to install. If you recall napa had small bags with 8? pieces per. I did a little internet search and found Clipsandfasteners.com who sold a 50 count bag for $24. Ordered yesterday, if interested it is their part number A2744 or 15 per #A12959. They are the same universal clips 10-24 thread, 3/4 length, 5/16 X3/4 head.
http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=a2744

Next update, Carpet ordered a few weeks ago from Newton Commercial. Charcoal narrow weave.
Picked up an oversize vert headliner in off white at the swap the other day too.

I am looking for a reasonable upholstry shop in socal that can do my seats, headliner... I want something a little nicer than TMI. Do you know anyone good AND reasonable?
also looks like I am going vintage two-tone interior theme. I want my seats black and?? not sure of other color, suggestions ? Door panels will be black/off white.

Darrel, I like the look and safety aspect of the third brake light. Do you have any pictures of the install on the decklid?

Do you need a power supply or do you tap right into the 12volt of the car?
