@djway, sorry to have missed meeting up at the show, i was walking around all day long. Maybe next time.
Car shows pretty well but I still have lots of little previously unknowns to attend to. I have a frustrating oil leak, a bad top pulley that oggered out the keyway on alternator so i need to replace pulley and alt. I also have a manifold leak under the right side carb. I need more door window adjustments. Looks good standing still tho. |

I looked for you when I saw the car and recognized that gauge panel under the dash. No one was around. |

Seems like I abandoned my own thread
Have about 700 miles on it .
Still working on plenty of little things that just kinda bug me. I was too low, adjusted beam as high as possible and still too low. I pulled the beam, disassembled and drilled out the oblong holes another inch or so to get more adjustment. Kinda like last ditch effort before cutting and re-welding. Prepped and re painted, re assembled, re aligned, re lieved by the new stance. Im a good 2 inchs higher, no more hitting/bumping/scraping. So much nicer to drive without worry and still looks good.
Before i couldnt put 2 fingers under the beam. Still plan on lowering the back another 1-2 inches.
Motor is running really strong, its fun for sure. Im only getting about 22 mpg but that may have to do with the fact it hard to drive without rolling onto the throtle a little. Still have a little too high oil pressure, pressure burst my oil cooler a few weeks ago. Replaced with another german swap meet purchase and its better with 10-30 than 20-50. I am still getting oil drip and have trailed it to leaking oil cooler seals (yes new), of course all under the shroud. Going to do an oil change to even lighter oil this weekend and then give it a 160 mile test, Camarillo and back for a funeral.
I recently purchased an original EMPI GT steering wheel and am working on a horn button, should have that on soon, kinda with a $20 steering wheel.
Been experimenting with a couple VDO 2 1/8 inch tachs w/o much luck. They're not VW and not 4 cyl. so i need to get a signal changing device, get a correct 2 1/8 tach, or make a mount for my 80mm Formula Vee Tach. I have a nice VDO clock I can fill the hole with for now. |

Resurrecting this thread a bit, just had to post and compliment on the overall outcome. I love your interior colors - the black and white seats with those door panels look fantastic. Excellent work! |

Good luck on your color choice. What i did, cause i had 4+ years to choose, was to go to home depot/walmart/ace..and pick up color charts they had. I had an idea of what i wanted, original or vintage looking two-tone with some type of green as the body color. I liked anything from olive, army greens towards faded "turkis". I just shuffeled the 30 or so swatches in order when ever i had the inclination. Eventually the same few colors kept ended up at the top and i made a choice. I had a shop custom mix 2 gallons of the green. All along the top was going to be off white/beige. The week before i bought the top paint i changed my mind and choose the blackest black i could get mixed in the same PPG single stage. I think the years of waiting helped me make a choice i still am happy with. Thanks _________________ GhiaBuild

Wanted to have a third brake lite and have bought from Superbrightleds.com before. I ordered and recieved this in just a few days. Cheap, $12.

Love the thread, your creativity, dedication, persistence, clear thinking and SKILL!
I have the 3rd brake light the same place in my '62 coupe and is easily the favorite modification I've had done (by Mike @ HOG).
Hope to see your car and say hello one of these days at So Cal event!! |
Stunning and sharp looking kg buddy. I like this third light set up. So cool and plus the added safety is priceless! The interior is awesome too! Thats my plan now for my 67 kg aka mickey to have a classic looking interior! You are giving justice to your kg! Two thumbs up, buddy! _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Great work , I really like the gas struts for the deck lid. Are they a kit or is it a custom job ? |
