Congrats on the progress! Get that beast up to the next BNNTA so you can win the oldest Bus (displacing my '59 DD Panel as the occassional winner)... We'd all love to see it! Keep us updated on your progress, Exciting huh?

Bill

Bill,

Exciting it is! I just love bringing back a bus from the dead.
If my karma is in harmony with the universe, my precious and I will be at BANTA this year. I think I will leave on Monday, after all it is a hundred mile trip.

I am so sorry I missed last year.

David

p.s. If Everywhere Ed brings his old camper, I'll be out of luck, but who cares!

Hello all,

Here it is a year later...

Had great weather here till today, it was so warm new years eve, we sat outside roasting dogs, marshmallows and drinking champagne.

I have made some progress at the garage! The frame is welded in place, huzzah!

Here is the proof.

Happy New Year

Do you have any more pics of this frame repair? I have the same repair coming my way at some point in the future.

Buseric,

I found these photos...
Pm me if you have questions that I can help with.
I measured very carefully, welded an angle of 1/8 flat metal bent 90 degres and spot welded to the frame channel.

Here is my motor, almost ready for install.
Yeah, I left it white, next time it is out I'll paint it black.

Going to work towards that goal tomorrow.
I need a starter cable, a few other things and a 6 volt battery.
With luck it will run by tomorrow night...

Thanks Brian,

It can get so very frustrating bringing these old fellas back from the dead.

Looking for a 6 volt battery to borrow for a test start, got a few wiring issues to iron out as I repaired the wiring harness from frame cut, need a ignition switch or momentary switch.

I can't wait till I hear this one run...

Friday I finally found reverse and the 58 dd panel freed herself from the confines of the garage. Several trips around the parking lot across the street, I found that all the forward gears worked as well. You know it is difficult backing a panel with no mirrors out of a snowy garage.

Huzzah!

Bought the used VW muffler and tailpipe from Tom's Imports in Columbia, same place I got the engine. He has very little old stuff left. Would you have a accelerator tube that you would part with? I have fabricated a temporary return spring.
