Regarding removing the roll pin:
On two different syncros I was able to remove the roll pin without removing any supports or anything else by using this technique: I use an appropriately sized roll pin punch and ‘extend’ the punch with a socket drive extension (I used an 10”, ˝” drive extension and a 10 mm socket which fit perfectly over my roll-pin punch).

Today I had to rob the sleeve and shaft/speedo-gear from a parked project-in-waiting syncro to my westy as the shaft from the westy is so tight in the aluminum sleeve that it won't turn any more... which caused the locktite holding my nice new metal speedo-gear to the shaft to let go and allow the gear to spin on the shaft. I need to find someone with a 10mm reamer to fix the aluminum housing. _________________ 1991 Syncro Westfalia - Bostig Zetec

These days I'm mostly using the GPS Speedometer app on my phone.
Another one of these days I'll get around to installing the GPS Speedo! _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
There are seven days in a week. Someday is not one of them. |
