Repair the holes, and if you want it done nicely, ship it to Tom at Tijuana Kustums. He is fantastic on interiors, interior fabrics, custom one-off work. He goes by Kustoms on this site.

Your project is just terrific ! A time warp that would be wonderful to be drawn into.

Not sure what blinker assembly you're using, but if there's room to do it, mounting that wooden wheel with the dished part to the adapter/inside out would sort of mimic the way that the Model T steering wheels originally looked.

Might be a neat touch, maybe not . . .

I just got your PM and then clicked through to find the build thread here...really nice work! The timing is so funny as just yesterday I decided to get serious about my Barris T Buggy project and bought another Buggy to pull parts from to make it happen. Im going with the same theme...make it look just like the model kit. Im going to totally fast track the project and see if I can get it done for the VW Classic this June. (I work best under pressure) I am thrilled to see yours coming together so nice...it is going to be awesome!! Applause

Where did you get the coach lights and gas cap? I too need those.

I also need to figure out the grille shell as mine is hammered!

Randy,

Thanks, but I’d really like the ID tag……………

Surfnc, saw that I was looking for the gas cap, and got with me,(THANKS AGAIN)
Coach Lights are from Speedway, and My bright work, is being done by Kerr West Plating, in Phoenix. My grill was in bad shape also.
But, it looks like he has it handled.

Have a Good One,

Bill

Im sure you would Wink But selling you the id tag off mine would not be something I would consider...thats like selling the signature off of an artwork!

Speedway on the lights...cool...clicked over and saw those...that is awesome! I will search boat supply places for the gas cap deal...I saw he mentioned that.

I will look into Kerr West...might be better than my guy here in California.

Go see Barris and see what he wants for a new tag. You could make something up similar to the original that he could sign.

You can actually buy a signed tag right off the Barris website...but it is not the same as the original body tag that is on the #002 car that I've got.

Still a cool thing to add to the car...I bought one I plan to put on the dash!

Sorry Guys, I didn't mean to cause problems.........

Way back when (10 years ago) I got in touch with his son. He was great, sent me pictures of the buggy, some ads, and a black and white photo, signed by George. (had to pay $15.00 for that)

But, when I contacted them last year, the daughter, wanted $750.00,to send me a certificate of authenticity .

Hell, I have the car, and the model. Very Happy

And Randy, I do still have the original, front coach lights, if you are looking for them.

Also, BL3Manx, see, I'm not the only one looking for the "right" gas cap.

Enjoy the day,

Bill

You're obviously putting a lot of effort and expense into its restoration and it will probably be very impressive and I believe worth all you've put into it when its done. When the time comes for it to be sold to a new owner (unless you plan on being buried in it) having a tag or a specific certificate authenticity signed by Barris, would probably add at least that much to the value.

Again, I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers....

I am blessed, to be at a point in my life, that I can spend some money on this project.
And, equally blessed, that I have a Wife that let's me.

I just don't believe a $750.00 piece of paper, will convince me that the car is more real, than I think it is.

It's NOT going on E-Bay, for $45,000.00

Have a GOOD One,

Bill

I dont think you have ruffled a single feather anywhere Bill.
I agree $750 for a piece of paper seems silly. The car is what it is, how could it be anything else? The $30 little plaque for the dash is pretty cool though...I will have to post a picture of it.

I know there was another one of these out there recently that was restored somewhere here in California. I remember seeing pix of it at the Barris show last May I think (maybe it was a couple years ago now)? I wonder where it ended up?

Wow, do they fly out and personally inspect it for that?

This is verging on Shelby shenanigans. Next thing you know, they'll be offering to sign dash boards for money.

I think Shelby learned the trick from Barris! Laughing

I dont think you could buy a certificate of authenticity for your cat or tractor or anything...but if it is a genuine Barris machine they will do it...but at a price.

I understand where they are coming from...but that price does seem high.

I remember seeing Shelby at the SEMA show one year...one vendor had him there with some very cool posters...they charged extra for the signed ones for sure. But down the row Mario Andretti was signing stuff for free... oh well...it's a free world...and they can do what they want. We all need to make a buck somehow.

I think they all learned it from Joel Rosen of Motion Performance. That guy is real shifty. He's not very well received in these parts anymore. Last I herd he gets a couple of thousand to verify.

I had heard, (rumors) that to certify a Yenko Super Car was 3 to 4 times that of certifing a Motion built car.
