Was cruzing through rockauto.com checking out master cylinders and I noticed that cardone is manufacturing NEW ones. Part #132207
Anyone experienced with this unit?
I hate Reman brake parts...... personal thing. _________________ -cliff

You can get new ones from various vendors. Here is a new one for a lot less than rockauto. I have installed new ones from various sources but not one boxed as Cardone. Who knows if Cardone actually makes the ones they sell.

Just checked the prices on both a master and slave at OReilley's yesterday. IIRC it was like 50 bucks for the master and 30 for the slave. |

a *LOT* of these "new" parts do not seem to last long and begin to leak or malfunction. "You get what you pay for."
A better, longer lasting, solution may be to go to:
http://www.resleeve.com
and have stainless sleeves installed.
I have been using sleeved cylinders now for a couple of decades in classic cars. The trick is to use a bore size which uses standard cups. Sometimes you end up a hair bigger or smaller, but it seems to work well. Cost is not too bad either. This can be considered a "forever" fix.
(I have one new ATE master cylinder left and I actually debate whether I will use it or not when I put the big brake booster in as the sleeved cylinders work so good and last so long....) _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

I'll mention that the exterior of the one I bought from GoWesty blossomed with rust in a couple of weeks after I installed it - very unhappy.
I hosed it down with rust reducer but... _________________ 1986 2.1L Westy 2wd Auto Trans. |
