Ever have it where you have no oil or gen light in the on position and upon cranking the gen light pops on and swells with rpms? It happened to me years ago but for the life of me can't remember how I fixed it. I tried jiggling the wires back at the gen and regulator to no avail. _________________ KK4NTP

I would recommend checking the connectors at the cluster itself... specifically to the GEN and oil light. If one or more of them drops off very interesting lighting behavior can appear. |

Even before doing that have a close look at the fuses, no power to the back of the cluster would do that. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Agreed with previous posters. But also, as poss, in my case my 74 bug may have slightly corroded bulb holders in the speedo housing due to moisture being present in the front trunk area. |

It was fuse #12. Solved. Thanks again. Sometimes the smallest details slip right past you. _________________ KK4NTP

BusDaddy is amazing. No other forum in the world can have people as knowledgeable as what happens here on The Samba. I think a mechanic in a shop would have looked for hours on this one and what does Mark simply say - "check your fuses." Poof and it was fuse 12. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
