The Golden Gate Chapter (GGC) of the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America will be sponsoring the 12th Solvang VW Veteranentreffen Weekend on September 21, 22, and 23 in Solvang, CA.
Everyone arrives in town on Friday and gets together informally. Saturday will be the car show and swap meet held at the Santa Ines' Mission located at 1760 Mission Drive in Solvang from 8am to 3pm. Saturday evening there will be a RESERVATIONS-ONLY dinner at the Pea Soup Andersen's Restaurant in Buellton. For dinner reservations call (408) 683-0154 after 7pm NO LATER than Sunday, September 9.
Sunday will be the VW caravan and wine tour starting sharply at 10 am in front of the Hotel Corque (formally the Royal Scandinavian Inn). Security will be provided at the host hotel the King Frederik Inn located at 1617 Copenhagen Inn Dr, Solvang.
For King Frederik Inn reservations please call them directly at 805-688-5515.

Solvang show will be the weekend of September 22-23, 2012**. Carshow on Saturday. Cruise on Sunday into the surrounding hills and maybe a winery.
**NOTE: The date for the VW show had to be changed when the City of Solvang moved their date for "Danish Days" (huge crowds of people come to this event) and it conflicted with the VW show. The Solvang VW weekend has been moved up to the 22nd and 23rd. An announcement has been submitted to the Community Calendar.

...I don't think Solvang is a pre '58 car show. I was parked next to a '59 vert last time. Maybe you should get a pre '58 car then you can go to any show anytime!

I think you have the 2 shows confused. The SoCal VW Treffen in Anaheim is limited to '57 and earlier Type 1's, pressed bumper Type 2's, and early Ghias as well as Coachbuilts, etc. The Solvang show doesn't have this restriction.

| I believe it is for 67 and earlier as I was turned away with my 68 Single-cab 4 years ago. After I set up in the field next to them they came over and let me come in. I guess there was some confusion over the rules and they made an exception for me because I had driven so far. |

Hi All,
Just got back from the first meeting of 2012 for the Golden Gate Chapter.
Due to a change by the city of Solvang, the new date of the VW show is Saturday September 22, 2012 with a winery tour on Sunday September 23. Cruises to the show on Friday 09/21 are also being organized.
There should be a show listing posted very soon.

Aussie visiting LA area in September
Good stuff, I am going to be over on the West Coast in the LA area for the last 2 weeks of September. If there are other shows within a couple of hours of LA, can you please let me know. I have told the wife I want to visit VW shops and any possible shows whilst over there.
But this is meant to be a family holiday with our daughter, doing Disney Land etc

I have an extra room at the King Frederik Hotel (host hotel for the car show). We'd reserved it for family that can't make it to the show. I'm going to notify the hotel to cancel the reservation. Anyone want this room before I call them?
