If any one knows the Swedes who were at Solvang Sat. AM, I have the part that was seperated from their purchase. If you know who they are please PM me w/the info and I will take it from there. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

As a first time guest at the Solvang show...Truly the little Danish berg is an excellent choice for this venue...But as far as limiting the participants to pre-67 Volkswagens that is clearly an oversight or hopefully just a random snafu...Having been involved with the early VW clubs of the 70's and giving credence to Mike's super-sano '51 split(Cal Look) his car was truly a work of art, then there's the really clean & original '64 Notchback in jade/white roof, and last but not least is Bob Peters remarkably clean and all Turkis Green 99% original '63 camper...Although, this show could and should have been better organized as to the layout of displays for the parts & swap meet guys, and larger spacing & staging of each cars or van as to the arrangement of class distinction... I have truly seen much better shows by the venerable Rich Kimball such as the VW Drag Days, and the numerous BUG-INS... Folks there I'm about to say it..."There were a lot of really poor and just plain junk at this one particular show...Having been lead to believe that this Solvang show was going to have a better quality of vintage cars is just not so...Hopefully, in the future the organizers will be more selective or discreet in their display of true collector cars not bondo banzai wagens from a Cheech & Chong movie...Lol |

Does the club have a breakdown of the awards? I left a little early for the drive home. I was thinking Best Of Show was Todds 51 Vert - AMAZING! and a 1st in Luxury to that Standard Rag for the busses. Yeah, a little small but Solvang is a cool town and this is a cool show for every 2 years. Sould have brought the Deluxe. Next time and staying longer... had to pick up my little early Sunday. _________________ "It is EASIER to customize a car then it is to RESTORE one"

This was my first time as well to the Solvang show,, I found this show to be full of great and rare VWs. The show was ran well,, The only question I would have is how a 68 single cab won 2nd place in a pre 67 show? Cant wait for next year,,,

Updated Show Information.
Limited to 1967 and earlier due to space limitation |
There might be a space limitation if all the 67 and earlier VW's in the parking lot would come in.
I was surprised by how many were out there, what's up with that?
By the way, the weather was beautiful this year. |

I'll be the first to just say I'm a cheap a$$. I left my EZ camper in the parking lot. I had to leave a little early and was under the impression show space was reserved for the more high end, restored vehicles. Wish I would have driven the Deluxe. Maybe the next 2 years. Still a good show and good weather. _________________ "It is EASIER to customize a car then it is to RESTORE one"

Thanks norcalmike and keithnorn for the pictures, I saw some friends faces and their VWs. I wasnt able to make the show this time but the past times I have gone it was a blast and a well run event by the Golden Gate Club. |

I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Gabriel (http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?username=gabvwkey) for helping get my truck started. We were next to each other in the Swap area and the battery had died. He backed his double cab up and provided a jump.
Thank you Gabe!!! _________________ It all works on paper.
