I agree, either the recently rich going all too fast in their sparkly sports car. Or on the east side [Bellevue specifically] the tendency to stop WAY too short off the car in front. There's those that stop short and leave a full two+ car lengths between them and the vehicle ahead of them. If you are following these knuckleheads, it makes for timing a stop interesting to says the least. Rolling Eyes

Albuquerque: there is a different bad driver theme every day. if you see any of these anywhere in town, its happening all over town that day:

Honda Civics parked at a 75 degree angle to traffic in the middle of a parking lot entrance big enough for a motorhome to pull in while a bread truck pulls out

stick the nose of your car three feet into traffic so people who have the right of way have to let you in. makes me fantasize about owning an Oshkosh snow plow. rumble rumble scrape BONK BONK WHACK! spin spin chuckle...

the ever popular left turn from the right turn lane.

people slowing down as they approach a green light, so those waiting to turn left can't, and have to wait for another green light.

people who get in the left lane of a two lane left turn, then switch to the right lane in the middle of the turn.

I was in Shoreline a few months ago and I'd have to agree!
Every day I saw some new crazy stunt on the road- I was glad to have a rental.

On a side note- It was sad to see how few old VW's are left there these days.
I remember summer of '84 trying to count all the buses i saw just at the Northgate Mall Wink

Bad drivers are everywhere. Defensive driving skills are needed now more than ever. If you think someone is going to do something stupid, chances are they will.

"ride like your invisible"

used to be a motto for just when riding my motorcycle but not anymore with all the texting, emails, touch screen radios, etc.

Less than a week after I got my bus I was on Sand Point in the right lane. For absolutely no reason the woman to my left just started to merge into my lane. I have no idea what was going through her mind. We had been driving next to each other for about a mile and even left a stop light together. I had to hit the breaks as she merged right in front of me. I barely missed having the drivers side nose hit.
Are you planning to do the repair work yourself? You know what this thread needs? Pictures.

You seriously don't get it? Meaning that (again geared more towards bikers) ride like they (distracted drivers) don't see you (invisible) because they probably don't. Does that make sense?

I commute by bike sometimes. "Ride like you're invisible" is an OK defensive riding/driving mantra. But I find "ride/drive like they are actively trying to kill you" is more realistic.

Here people can't park so I can't begin to bitch about driving. I had an a-hole crush my passenger door in a parking lot.........fixed it out of my own pocket........month later another old lady parks one foot away from the same freshly repaired door! Instead of parking a spot that would allow her to exit her vehicle without squeezing her bloated ass from her van sideways (while her door was forced into mine) she parked next to me. I caught her in the act of doing this to my car and proceeded to get ten shades of jerry springer on her. Bad thin is this was a 70 year old grandmother, passenger was her 50 year old daughter! One of these idiots should know better. I need a change of luck or someone to invent retard repellent, I've ben attracting my share lately.

How about "drive like you are going to loose your commercial driving licence for 6 months if you are found at fault"because that is how the new florida law is written. and you wouldn't beleive the stupid things people do around 33000 pound freight trucks...yesterday i bought a Go Pro mini camera to mount in the cab of the truck to have a "video witness" if i have a problem....anyone who knows Go Pro cameras and would like to tell me how to set it up is incouraged to pm me. thanks Cool
