My 72 Bus occasionaly smells like gas. Im running a 1.7 with centermount webber progressive. Can i simply duct it into the air filter base plate. and would i have to adjust the fuel mixture? Thanks |

#1 yes and #2 no.
But make sure the lines above the tank as well as the elbow behind the sender are good and the filler tube isn't leaking. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

What you are proposing to do is an improvement, but you will most probably still smell some gas fumes, as the fuel vapor will expand and escape the confines of your air filter when the motor is off. The charcoal canister does a much better job trapping the vapors when the motor is off. The fuel is later evacuated from the canister when the motor is running.
In your righteous quest to eliminate gas fumes, you may also want to ensure that the bus is employing a non vented gas cap. _________________ 1974 Bay
