Hi, I've got the tachometer from a 914 that I installed in my new Lolette buggy which I have been building for a while.
Last week, while taking it for a test run, everything went fine and the tach worked well. At some stage, it seems like the earth clamp from the battery came loose (altenator was not connected yet), and the tach died. Since then I haven't been able to get it working again - I checked the wiring with another (924) tach, and it is perfect.
Is this something that can be fixed easily? Hope I haven't 'blown' something
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

After some asking around (the local VDO tech wouldn't even touch it), I decided to try it myself. I've had this old faded 924 tach which I took apart, and the electronics were exactly the same as that of the 914 tach!
I have now successfully transplanted it to the 914 tach, and only still have to respray the bezel. The sweep of the needle is not exactly the same at low rpm - but I am happy
Any advice on preventing a similar failure on the repaired tach?
