im having centers cut out for the wheels to resemble the old pacer wheels but have the center cut out and use the crome center cap and powder coat the wheels

spent a few hours trying to get it square on the frame jig, we got the torsion tube and front beam squared and the body close, figured out the drivers side of the body is an inch shorter
any ideas on how to square the body or where to add ?

People have used aftermarket rack & pinion steering units on the Beetle beam, but finding an easy to install junkyard item & dropping it in can be more of a challenge than it's worth. There is/was a kit available in Europe that used a VW factory rack, but the kit isn't cheap.

The Subi conversion still looks like way too much work. My VW powered buggy gets me down the 1/4 mile in the mid 12 second range and will take me anywhere I point it, dependably.
Remember the KISS principal, it will get you down the road quicker, having fun sooner and less expensively.
It is your buggy to do with what you want.
