Here is the numbers on the plate. This bus is red on the bottom and some kind of off white on the top. Please help me understand them. Tim
07 9
425 081 114 139
VW 2512 434470 7021740
I need help from people on the Samba to make this bus correct. I am a beetle guy and this is my first bus. Tim |

425 is the north american package- sealed beam headlights, overriders, dual circuit MC etc, 081 is walkthru, 114 is 6 popouts, 139 is sealed beam headlights and red taillight lenses. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

Without looking and going off recollection, I thought 425 was the deluxe model code...?
EDIT---Just looked...nevermind. _________________

eg 231= kombi
261 is pickup
251 is deluxe _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

Thanks for the responses! The interior panels seems to be a red top vinyl with like a pepper bottom? is that right? How do you know the seat colors? Tim

Guys I can't thank you enough.
My walk thru bases have red vinyl on the tops unless someone painted them?? The white headliner also has like a tan / gold color spray on a few places like around the popo outs? There was some arguement over the middle seat. Should a full length fold down 1967 middle seat have the small brace across the end fro mthe back leg to the floor? this would be hidden of course from the side panel.
Do they still make this color interior? |

looks like wolfsburg west has mesh platinum interiors if you want repro.

good originals are HTF
framewise, your middle seat would look like this
with this upholstery

that thing says tim's bus would have a short middle seat. what are the positions of the plates on the floors?
i'm gonna guess that the destination code is UW not "VW" UW being washington DC and tim is on the east coast. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

67 has the plates for 2/3 and full length. The floor mats should be brown aka polecat. _________________

not necessarily, they could be ordered with full or 2/3 as designated by the model code.
typically, pre 61' walk through buses had full length seats and most 64' and up walk through buses had 2/3 seats. |

The answer lies in the mcode......
251 walkthru, with short seat
241 bench, full seat
It's that easy.....really. _________________ Transporter Restorations

I never knew VW made an 8-passenger bus. I thought it was either a 7 or a 9. Either you walk-thru or you don't. _________________ Looking for SO34 parts.

Ok guys, What is the decision on the middle seats? 2/3 or full size? my floor has the slots for both. Please look back to my M code info on the top of this forum, does this tell you for sure? Tim |

Yes, 7, 8, or 9 passenger. It all depends on the middle seat and the front seats which gives you the correct configuration.
Me, i have an 8-passenger deluxe; walk-thru with full middle seat. |
