I don't really need another project.
1981 single cab, 2,000 $
No motor, no trans, no title, right hand drive, etc etc

Words of wisdom are appreciated.

(google map) (yahoo map)
1981 Volkswagen Sinka (Right Hand Drive) Single Cab, I purchased this awhile back and just found another project so this has to go...

The Good,
Almost rust free!
Side gates are in better than far condition!
Was sand blasted!
Has original key
2 sets of doors (1 set has all glass)
Has seats
Never been hit!
Has rear engine door
Has both side treasure Chest doors (both need work)
(first reasonable offer will take it)

The Bad,
No motor
No transmission
No title (but easy to get)
No windshield

What neat little vehicles! But I'd kill myself and everyone else on the road if I had to shift with my left paw.

oh, I forgot to mention, the RHD ... not appealing to me.

Probably the only thing keeping me, or saving me, from buying it

That truck has been around a long time. A cool piece but barely worth what he's asking in its present condition.
Cracks me up "No title -- easy to get " So why didn't the owner just get it. Whatever anyone did with this truck I wouldn't buy it until I saw a clear title.
My buddy converted a RHD to LHD ,his was with PS and really complicates things. With all the parts its about a days job to do. Air cooled vans are dirt cheap and would be the best way to get this back on the road.
Having a 89 Single cab in the family ,I do not pine for one but they are way cool.
So get the guy to get the title and then kick him at about $1200.00 because that's what it's worth .

my .02

$2K for a rust free or close to it SinKa seems like a solid buy to me. Regardless of lack of powertrain or title.

Oh Geesh. ..
It's probably got a triple z vin on it, I have a feeling if I buy you'll see me have it up for sale soon too, unable to register it.
That worries me a bit. ..

I wish I was closer, I have a shifter kart I could trade him Very Happy I just don't have enough time to go down and get it.

Would be a fun project, I've been wanting a single cab to turn into a dump truck. I would keep it RHD too.

So Levi, if you plan on heading to SLC anytime soon, make room for a single cab Wink

What seems to be the problem here? No title but a bill of sale?

Get the VIN. Ask the seller if it is stolen and tell him you will call the police to run the VIN to make sure it isn't. Offer him twice what the scrap value is in Vegas. Have cash and a trailer waiting at the curb.

This T3 is over 25 years old so there should be no reason that you cannot register it in your state. It meets the 25 year exemption rules for the US EPA, DMV, etc......

The parts to convert to LHD are available. Shouldn't be too difficult?

Giddy up! Very Happy

WV2ZZZ24ZCH049290 from the add.
This smells like it was one of those "vic" specials from zsi or what ever hes called out there. You can search feed back on the forum here for zsi.
Sounds like someone who fell for the lie and bought it, now can't title it. From what I remember reading somewhere none of those vans were imported correctly (parts only) and now its turned into a head ache for unsuspecting buyers. Can't say for sure that this is "one" of those but I would seriously do your homework before you hand over cash.

This Syncro in nearly perfect shape(iirc) sold for just under $10k just a little while back.

Only link I could find to it. Seems like it would be hard to build the project van into as nice a shape for less.

out of interest, why are triple ZZZ numbers an issue in the US?

Used in UK as first three digits are not used in uk/european market as i understand it so ZZZ are purely filler numbers.

Does it cause an issue over there then?

Its not normally an issue when they are imported properly. Those letters are for the most part european market vans, they had the 112hp gas engine and they would not have had been available to the US for emission issues and so on. So to legally import them they would have to been done according to US standards.
The problems arise when these vans come into the states for parts only. They for go all the normal import procedures and from what I can tell are listed as such, making for getting a title difficult.
Disclaimer's
*This info may or may not be completely accurate. lol
*I am in no way shape or form an import specialist.
