Wow!

I'm not surprised at all. Both of the recent ~$40,000USD Vanagon sales were very low mileage vans in terrific shape.

Dixie's body work and paint are going to cost a shocking amount of money, too!!

A clean-looking 1991 Syncro Camper with a 1.9 turbo-diesel swap, some seam rust issues and perhaps the coolest pop-top tent colour:

For some reason I'm thinking $35.1K even though the way prices are going recently $38 or even $40 is a possibility.

Bases covered. Very Happy

Its not a factory Westy but a DIY swap: that will surely keep the price down. I'm kinda surprised that they don't state that more clearly in the ad copy.

It's a factory Westy. Says so in the copy and the vin sticker is "incomplete vehicle". Also has the little tells people forget like the shorter seatbelt stalks.

That 65,0000 is kind of a funny number because its 2 idiots who got into a bidding war. if you check the bids people were interested until about 36k which is still about right for these vehicles after 36k it was a bidding war vs two people with too much money... rising tides make unaffordable overpriced boats.

Wow, $65k with a messed up rear bumper and bad rear corner, that's a 7-8k repair by a good shop

Huh. I wonder why they say, "Campmobile style kitchen"?

That is how BAT writes up every westy...

No, they really don't.

And every other Westy ad says "Westfalia" in the title whereas the most recent is called a "Modified Syncro".

The most recent example:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1983-volkswagen-vanagon-westfalia-9/

All the other ads:
https://bringatrailer.com/volkswagen/vanagon/

maybe BAT has a new 'cover writer'
they're 'car experts' not 'vanagon experts'

yes even something so simple, can elude.

Unless they changed it, the seller writes the copy and then BaT approves. It has to be done in their style. "The odometer shows/displays/manifests/elucidates 12,593 miles" instead of "the car has 12,593 miles."

They gotta be high class. Laughing

Holy Toledo! All you need is one person with stupid money and one good friend who knows when to stop...or two people with stupid money. Either one will do.

Can’t you guys just be happy for the seller? They needed the money for a Sprinter Razz

It’s like the Twilight Zone these days with respect to vanlife mania. On the other hand, it’s great that we have many specialty vendors helping us stay on the road.
