I have a 1650 single port engine...I changed the carb. from a 28 pict. with a 125 main jet to the 30/31 pict. 125 main jet.. My exhaust pipe/plugs are full of carbon... It is also hard to start after a long drive, (after sitting for 15/20 min ) My question....Is this carb over jetted for my engine ?? Bentley says a 115 main is right ... would a 115 main work with the 30/31 carb ???..
Thanks for your advice.. Bob King 63 EZ bought in 69,, second owner |

Have you investigated other factors like fuel pressure, float level and whether the choke opens fully? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I don't think your carb is overjetted at all.
something else is going on.
check the float and float valve
measure your jets, and check your accel pump. |

Hey thanks for the reply... Its a new carb. not rebuilt....So,, the float is OK.. The fuel pump is original ,, So,, I think its not pumping too much to flood out the carb...I am going to get a 115, and a 120 main today.. Hopefully that will solve the carbon/starting problem.. Thanks again,, Bob 63 EZ camper,, Long Beach,, Ca. |

just because the carb is new doesn't mean its setup properly.
ask around... |

115? That's tiny...my 1600 would lean out with anything less than a 125. _________________ Copyright CJ Industries, Inc.
