Anyone know who or where I can find a set of center caps for Flat Four BRM wheels for a BUS, not a bug, I have the bug center caps already, I need "deep dish" style caps to fit on a '60 bus. Many Thnx.-Mark. |

i wouldnt worry about it. i got a set of the machined billet aluminum ones, they still werent deep enough and i thought they looked dumb. too klunky. just leave them off. did you try to fit the BRMs on the rear of your bus yet??? |

Yes, the BRM's are already on the bus, they fit just perfect! There seems to be a lot less road noise in the bus too with them. I've seen the big "clunky" caps, I don't think I want those big 'ol things, was kinda hoping to find ones that are similar to the bug ones I have, but deeper. |

I put BRM`s on my bus about 3 years ago and at the time there wasn`t any extended caps avaible,so I made a set of adapters- extenders--- my self on a Lathe. Used round aluminum stock --Turned one end down to fit cap hole end on wheel--went over 1 inch--bored end to fit cap that came with wheel--polished clear coated installed with caps ---Look Good--Bill |

Cool, I wish I had a lathe to do that! Now, I wonder if there is any other way to make "extenders" to fit the caps that I have now? Thanks for the input Bill! -Mark. |

glad you got them on. some folks have had trouble fitting them because of the offset. |

yeah I was told that before I put them on. They fit real nice though, about as close as you can get without rubbing the wheelwells. |

California Import Parts carries several center cap's for the BRMs. There's the flush mount one, a deep one, and an in-between one. I just put my 15x5.5 BRMs on my stock '65 (195/65 15 Falken Tires), and the bastards rub. Can anybody tell me if a straight axle conversion will fix this? I'm just waiting on the parts to show up.

Talk about digging deep for an old thread!

When I first got my BRMs and found out the caps would not fit on the rear, I left them out. However, as soon as I washed the bus I found a major flaw in leaving them out. The BRMs are so "flushed" into the drums that they will hold water between the rim and the drum. So you wash and dry your bus, take it for a spin and find this water splashed all over it. It doesn't all go away at once either and it's a bitch trying to dry it out with a rag.
At the time, there was no availability to ANY type of cap to remedy the situation so I decided to make my own. Wanted to use the original caps so I made a spacer to just clear the rear axle nut. IMO it looks much better than the extremely protruded cap offered for buses today. Also, I like the "even-ness" of using these spacers on all 4 rims rather than just on the back.

I just picked up a set off repop empi 15x5 brms for my 67, stock height big nut rgb, does any one know if Ill need any type of spacer to fit them? Im also assuming Ill need the deep dish caps for the rear but the gist of this thread sounds like they are a bit of an eyesore, are there any other caps out there that are more elegant and will will fit?
And you can call me Indiana jones cause I just dug up this ancient thread |

Any one have any idea? Homemade cap spacers are fine so long as they dont require a metal lathe. |

Are your BRMs Flat-4s from Japan?
If so, I do have an extra set already made... just have to find it after my latest move! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |
