So, just bumping this back up to let y'all know there are, in fact, 3 versions. This is the 2012 release... that I just now found out about (and, once again, went out to eBay to buy Laughing ):

Shocked

There's also these from the '80s:

And, rumor has it that an Island Hoppers/Magnum P.I. version will be released this year:

Here's a shot of my Sunagon Syncro. I jacked it up with wheels from a Baja Bug. Just like a real Syncro it cost twice as much as a regular Sunagon and I've got a pile of parts laying around Laughing

Great idea! Eventually I'm going to order some flash silver to paint my real van. Once I've got that I think I will! (maybe paint a little rust down the side too) Very Happy

(Off Topic: I loved your Syncrofest movie BTW. Must have been a ton of work, but it came out great!)

That's pretty cool. I have a collection of diecast cars that represent all the cars I've owned in the past. I've custom painted most of them to match their real counterparts but never thought of doing up the wheels! Thanks for the interesting idea.

I have 2 of the old Sunagons, but still need to pick up one of those newer styles. Only found 1 in a store; kick myself for not buying it then. Guess I'll turn to fleabay, too.

Oh, and that Magnum PI/Island Hopper van: DO WANT!!!!!

The rust will add just the right touch of authenticity! Maybe add some green splatters on the bottom for leaking coolant.

Thanks for the compliment! The videos are a lot of work - it will be a good while before I do another one...

Purple arrived, so they all ventured out to Tortilla Flat for a family reunion:

Not a Vanagon, but Hot Wheels released these for 2013. Bought out local Target to give out.

Picked up a Magnum PI Sunagon today. Still haven't ever seen the purple one though.

The wheels are better, I like the tinted windows and painted grill better than the previous Hot Wheels Sunagons. If I can find another I might pick one up to paint like my Syncro. Dancing

I just got one a couple of weeks ago too!
I've been reluctant to open the packaging, since it looks so good with the palm trees and Hawaiian islands.
Do we think this will become a collectors' item?

Absolutely! Probably worth seven or eight bucks one of these days! Wink

Visit this guy's store... much better prices, and he combines shipping. Has quite a few T3 models.

Nope, it's a depreciating block of metal and plastic. And, like all depreciating assets, you should get rid of them as soon as you can, so my home address is.... Wink

Yeah, in that package it's probably going to be worth a couple of bucks but will probably take some time. Just look how much the original Sunagons trade hands for!
