None really. A pressure tested used one is okay, the new ones are debated on quality but I've been running one for a while.

aircooled.net sells a pressure tester. It seams to work good.

I would be careful using a used oil cooler. There's not a good way to flush it.
I've been using a empi oil cooler for years in my baja with no problems.

Take it to a radiator shop for a flush and pressure test.

Idk, I think the stock parts are better than all the after market crap out there. I have had slight issues with every aftermarket part I have gotten so far, none with original equipment. Vw makes good stuff. Have it pressure tested if you don't know how, and if its no good I'm sure your local vintage vw shop has a good used one they caN sell you for wayless than a repop part will cost you.
