Roy, that's great that you got the board! I can't wait to see it in person. The pictures look great. You are building up quite a collection of high-end Manx memorabilia (old and new).

If you get a few minutes, why don't you write up a little blurb on the sign (as much history as you know, how you got it, etc) along with a few picts. I'd love to put it on the MOTB site. Drop me a line.

Bud

I really enjoy collecting. My wife and I have a wide variety of stuff collected, over the years. The only other sign I know of is in Bruce's Garage. It was just being in the right place with some money. I think his is one sided and he knows where there may be a few other one sided one are. Mine is 2 sided and never installed. It looks like new. Even Bruce couldn't believe the shape it was in. I am getting ready to order the color for the board, as they are all custom. I am trying to get the trim ring the same as the color that I hope Vince will paint my buggy this winter. I think they are all a work in progress. I had board #21 reserved but I think I like the one I got better. Someone asked me if I was going to take up surfing. When I finished laughing, I told them this board will never get wet, I hope.

I know of another sign in a personal collection in Southern California. It's also one sided, and it's also got a number of cracks in it. I'm pretty sure it's one of the ones Bruce is aware of.

One side of mine is perfect. The other has a bit of thin, yellow paint where water or something had gotten inside. All I did was to clean it up, inside and out, replace the tubes and power cord. It still had the paper "Federal Sign" label on the outside and the original bolts where the 3/8" eye bolts, for hanging go.

Winnie is not saying who is making them at the moment. It is somewhere in SoCal.
I sure it will come out when people start receiving them as they are going to be drop shipped from surfboard company.
It more of collector's item, so I don't think you will see many of them getting water on them.

I bid on no. one but but i knew it was out of range above 2,000 I called Winnie as soon as i saw the listing. I was fortunate enough to acquire # 2 IN the same color yellow A color match would have been nice but i"am undecided at this point .i figure the yellow is manx colors and will fit with what ever i decide. Now i need to explain to my wife why we needed to have this. [/b][/i][/u]

There's a good article Bruce wrote in this month's Mania about his time as a surfer and shaping and glassing balsa wood boards in the 50s and 60s.

You could shoot Winnie and email @ [email protected] or join the Manx Club and have access to some extra "Goodies". http://www.manxclub.com/newsletter.htm

I plan on bringing my manx surfboard #002 to the next OBX EVENT, In hopes to get some beach shots with bruce . I think to have bruce holding the board in a picture here on the east coast would be awesome It would be cool to see some of the others all together in the various colors as well.

I haven't received mine yet. It will have a blue border to match my blue Manx 2. I am in the process of ordering a bunch of part from Winnie and she said the board should be ready Thursday but I want an entire pallet shipped by truck to save freight. She and Bruce are heading to Kuwait and it may have to wait another week, while waiting for a hood to be made. Now that the border is blue, I am building a Manx 1 with orange. Oh well, blue and orange works fine for me. Dunerodder where are you coming from to MOTB?

Hey Roy , Ill be coming from eastern pa. We talked a little at the obx camp fire if you remember me as the other crazed manx collector Iam confused now. I was under the impression the yellow board on EBay was the actual #001 board. Or did you order another ? i ordered mine in yellow With being undecided on my body color and figured yellow is the official manx color . Ill bring some of my other manx stuff to look at. were planning on coming down for the week. are you coming to carlisle In may ? ROD
