My car has a fairly new rebuilt engine and was running good. It has been parked for about six or seven months and had not been started. The fuel was drained and it would start, but would not idle.
I am not sure what I did next when trouble shooting, but now it will not start. The engine does crank.
The battery was run down from trying to start and was put on the charger. It seems that the non starting occurred after charging the battery.
I have the fuel pump for alternator engine and I am not sure that it is putting out enough fuel, but it does pump when hand cranked with the line off. I can see fuel in the fuel filter. The carb was drained. The electronic shut off valve has been checked and it clicks. The wires are new 'carbon' I have been told. I am not sure that there is fire to the plugs as I don't know how to test these newer type wires. All connections appear to be connected tightly. The battery was run down from trying to start and was put on the charger. It seems that the non starting occurred after charging the battery
Any ideas appreciated.

I think you need to prime the carburetor (such as with aerosol starting fluid, and starting) to get the fuel pumping. Fuel pumps are designed to pull and pump liquids not air. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
