Yes, the little back tube.
The L-shaped tube is for overspill when filling the tank at the gas station and for water that might otherwise collect during washing or when driving in rain.

Got it Kiwi, figured that was the case. And just to add a pic to your request:

Continued to clean old parts in preparation for reassembly. While doing so, I came across these little plastic items. Now I know they go on the rail just behind the doors between the convertible hinges and the top, protection cover? That said, does anyone know what they are called and if anyone sells them?
I seem to recall they were held in place with a bit of contact cement and then I believe the front outer screw down for the top, or a snap for the tonneau cover. it looks like the ends are gone where they were held in place. Any idea where I can purchase replacements? Thanks.

I do know that Karmann Ghia Parts & Restoration sells this trim part. Their website is currently down, but i believe it is called 'CV Side Panel Cover Strip'
Here is a post which references the part number shows how it fits together:

Thank you Sir, I looked through my KGPR catalog and found the part you mentioned. Also checked out the link. Appreciate that! _________________ 1971 Ghia convertible (Body off rebuild)

Nope. These go in the doors to assist keeping the door seal in place. The edge of the seal is held in by the clip. The idea is to stop the seal curling in the crease behind the accent lines. one per door... i think.

In reference to the pic below of positive battery cable, is the small wire used to attach to any specific additional components, or can this be used to power the relay #30 for a hard start relay set up? I plan to mount the battery under the seat, and the relay would be mounted there as well close to the battery and starter.
Thanks,
Jeff

yes it can be used on anything with direct unfused battery voltage. Make sure you use an inline fuse. _________________ Rick

Thanks Rick, yes an inline fuse would be part of the wiring in-line, or a relay with the built in fuse, modern style. _________________ 1971 Ghia convertible (Body off rebuild)

Hmm, I think maybe it is the vent cables based on the little twist on one side. I know they are a pain to get to!

If the metal under the paint is brass, then they are for the door weather strip.
I knew where they came from, just not their purpose. |

Just wanted to confirm this bracket/relay/fuse holder is for the back up lights, or for another item??
It looks like a bracket that would mount on one of the posts under the dash, so wanted to clarify. Should it be mounted there or somewhere closer to the tailights?
Also, I assume I can use this type of bracket set up for installing a headlight relay system as sketched below? Thoughts?
Thanks,

Not to try to throw you completely off but I do recall a similar bracket and relay hanging off the coil mount on the engine. Relay was for rear window defroster and 2 fuse holders for other items.
See below "low quality" picture

Thank you Sir, I believe you are correct. Looking at your pic I remember that placement on my stock engine. I think one fuse may have been for back ups or something else. but don't recall. Thanks. _________________ 1971 Ghia convertible (Body off rebuild)

Was just checking a wiring diagram. One fuse was probably FOR the defroster relay, other for backup lights. _________________ No Dents

Any idea what this is? I don't recognize this as a Ghia part.
