I live 18 miles from Mexico but the word on the street is that the Alaskan purple haze is the way to go.

here in the valley its matanuska thunder f#*k. cool old jack there I don't know what this old Lincoln is going to look like. My floor hoist is about a 40 year old Line-o-tronics lift rate at 8500 pounds I repainted it and changed its oil but thats all I did and still working great everyday.

Merry Christmas to everyone....

Well I opened my Christmas present to myself and I must say I'm very happy with the new Arcan jack from Costco. This jack cost $100 plus tax at Costco but Amazon had it for something like $140 plus about $70 in shipping so Costco is the clear winner. One thing that's amazing is that this jack lifts up to 21 1/2 inches and reaches full height with only 8 pumps of the handle. Vey nice.

Here's a picture of my jacks all lined up. I think maybe I might be getting a little obsessed.

Two new additions from a couple days ago are a 3 1/2 ton Napa and also a scissor jack that might be great for engine pulls. Both were free but the Napa probably needs a cylinder rebuild.

Gary, That Arcan jack is cool. The Costco near me had it on the floor and I got to play with it. Now I'm thinking of one for me. This is my old trusty jack.

It must be getting on 20 years. It works well, but I dread the day the bus is up on stands and I can't get it down because a seal went bad. Merry Christmas with your new toy.

Same to you Erik. For the price you can't go wrong. I did just use it for the first time to raise the front of a Vanagon I'm working on. So far I like it. Kinda nice being low profile too. My daughters Passat is kinda low to the ground and soon I'll be replacing her CV boots.

I think you made an excellent choice. I'll be using my Costco jack in the next few days to change the rotors on our daughter's Subaru.

So Larry,
You have the same jack? Costco changes products from time to time.

it is a good throw-away that should last quite some time. I did some research and supposedly for $39 you can get a repair kit now. You might consider picking one up and stashing it to extend the life. Supposedly the $39 is for a whole replacement hydraulic unit.

I could but right now I'm more concerned with getting the Napa jack rebuilt. The Napa part number is 791-6420 and the rebuild kit for the cylinder is RS35SK. I've gotten some good from joining The Garage Journal, thanks.

well my jack selection is not so great right now but I really like my sears cycle lift jack its great for putting in vw engines and when my friend gets done rebuilding that old Lincoln jack for me that will be great addition. That blue jack I have in my lineup I hate because that handle will not stand up and that is the way it was made but the dam thing keeps on working and I would throw it away even thou it piss me off when i use it.

That Craftsman is pretty damn cool and HD looking compared to my motorcycle jack (which my buddy next door gave me) probably (since I kept borrowing it anyway)
