Fuel line breather leaking

I smell gas.
It seems to be coming in trace amounts from this hole.
The screw is tight. Is there a special washer for this that I may need to replace?

that's the fuel pressure test port

and yes there is a very small fiber (delicate) washer for that screw to seal.

your local big box store may have something in the row with the little drawers of items.

My gasket is also missing. I haven't noticed any leakage yet. When I was replacing my fuel lines I dropped the screw and it literally disappeared. I looked for over 1 hour. It must be in some crevice on top of the engine. I got a replacement screw in stainless steel at Ace Hardware. I didn't see any gasket when I removed the screw. Can we use RTV instead of a gasket? Question

I've often seen aluminum or copper sealing washers used to good effect.

FWIW, the OEM part number is N90101301 (size A4x8). If you want the genuine factory part, your local VW dealer still has it for around $.50.

The hex bolt is M4x8 (part #N 0102017).

That is not a "breather" that is leaking, it is the Fuel supply, High Pressure. get it fixed before driving the car again.

Note the proximity of your fuel leak to the distributor,.... spark , spark, ... spark, spark, BANG!!!!!! you got a fire Evil or Very Mad

Don't mess with driving with this leak. get it fixed immediately.

When I have ten minutes I'll finish my story of Winston's metal fuel lines, which involves taking him, barely running, to Blazer and learning many interesting things--such as having EXACTLY the same leak. Jim Blazer's decades-of-experience solution was to get Teflon thread sealer, the paste, not the tape, and to put it on JUST THE THREADS (Jim used the washer to keep it off the end of the screw and thus out of the fuel system) and tighten it down, letting it dry for at least 5 minutes, and checking the seal.

Worked! I need to get my own tube.
