What is this part?

Hi,
I'm not quite sure that this belongs here, but then again, I'm not sure where it belongs which is why I'm looking for help.

I was recently cleaning out my dad's stash of aircooled vw parts, and came across these. They seem to be identical, and both have captive nuts for mounting. Anyone know what they are and which VW they belong to? I'm thinking suspension, and I know its not Type 1, but that's about it. Thoughts?

i would say NOT bus.
IF they are VW at all, my guess would be something like a piece of the frame repair panel where a bumper would mount, like on an early Rabbit.

Thanks, I just found out from another forum that they are MK 1 Jetta driver's side frame rails... Embarassed

Have no idea why they were in the garage with the aircooled stuff.
