so does my car have too many reflectors?
the two above the taillights are brakelights on the outside and reflectors on the inside. they were required in belgium where the car originated.
the ones on the bumper are brezelwerks brackets and ebay vintage reflectors. i'll probably move these to the overrider bolts.
i make no excuse for the hippie rug in the photo.

The ones on the fenders look good. I don't care for the ones on the bumper. They look like add ons.

As always, it's your car, your decision.

dig it. i actually don't like the ones on the fenders but they're original and will leave holes if removed. i like the ones on the bumper better.

Yeah, but the ones on the fenders have provenance too. I like some of the "modified" European splits that are still basically original, but have part on them that people put on them long ago to meet local regulations and be able to keep driving them. Good history there...

i'm on the fence about removing them and having the holes filled and the paint blended. i think the originality factor will win out.

My problem with the bumper reflectors is they sem too large and distract from the smaller lights on the fenders. Plus a second pair of reflectors is redundant.

Once again, this is respectfully submitted because you asked our opinion. I love your car regardless.

I think was on the fence both ways till I looked at this photo, So yes i think there are too many reflectors, I agree with Johnshenry that the fender mounted reflector/ brake lights have there own cool factor. So i'd would remove the bumper mounted reflectors

I agree with 56OvalRHD, but he did ask the question.

Watchout for tailgaters mesmerized by so many red spots... and hope they notice your indicators among the clutter.
My vote is to 86 the bumper mounted set, they look kinda plastic

I agree because those were never put on a bumper in Belgium.
The other ones I recognize easily.

I think:

Definitely leave the ones on the wings.

Definitely remove the ones on the bumpers. Plastic reflectors are way too wrong/modern on a split. But if you find a pair of correct bakelite type or aluminium backed 50's glass reflectors put them back on Very Happy

The ones on the bumper look like they may be obscuring the rear lights from certain angles. I´d take them off for that reason alone.

just because i love how everyone expresses his opinion freely on this forum, here is mine:

i think that split would look much better with just the taillights, and maybe extra yellow turn signals. i don't suppose you drive the car during the nights... and on clear daylight for me it doesn't matter much if the car in front of me has no cats eyes.

here is an idea maybe none has thought about: i would use some neodymium magnets on some domed turn signals like yours, but stick them to the fender on a soft cloth, then just put them away at a show, or use just on public roads. no drilling required this way, and i can keep the clean original look to the front and back. when hidden i can just stick the magnets under the front hood and engine lid, or under the fenders... should i put my straight-jacket back on? Laughing

to me:
the ones on the bumpers look like cheap plastic reflectors you'd buy at the dollar store. i think some vintage glass reflectors would look much nicer there.
the ones on the fenders are ok i guess. not my style, but added safety and holes that are already drilled would make me keep them on there, at least for now.

I agree with the above post. I know it's part of the cars history, but it just looks cluttered to me. If it were my car, I would remove them all. Just my opinion since you asked Wink

I guess you want opinions?

I'd remove them all, even if I was driving around with huge holes in the fenders.
