Was looking in the tech section, and noticed that 1960 has no diagram.
Same as 1959? 1961?

Mine is a 8 fuse screw terminal box. I have a small blue wire coming from the harness that is loose by the box. Cannot find out where it goes.
I have searched, and it seems that its a mix of the 2 years. _________________ 67 Cal Look Beetle

the only blue wire that should be anywhere near the fuse block is the high beam indicator that connects to the third fuse from the left on the bottom to the speedo pod light behind the blue gel _________________ April 3rd 62 standard mgr/pw

It took me a while to find the start date of it, when they switched from 6 fuse screw to 8 fuse screw. I think it is 10 Feb 1960 at VIN 569 929.
I don't know why , but VW is secretive about the Feb 60 through June 60 (end vin 614 xxx) 8 fuse screw terminal wiring.
Sorry I don't have a wiring diagram. Did you check the owners manual?
It should show the fuse box there. My 3/61 parts list does not show a difference in wiring at the switch from 6 to 8 fuses, so I would expect it is the same wiring harness, just hooked up so as to use more fuses for the headlight, probably like the 61 wiring harness.
I have not actually owned a driving bus with this fuse box, but have noticed VWs lack of info.
I wanted to know when this fuse box was used to find out how long they used that drivers kick panel, you see. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

My 15 window has the 8 screw terminals and is vin 581XXX. I will look tomorrow and get a pic as it is unmolested in the wiring for the most part. |

Here is an unmolested 8 fuse block:
The only blue wire(white stripe?) goes to the bottom right side WHITE headlight wire. Other than dirty the wires look right except the three that go to the missing flasher relay which I need a 3 post screw terminal flasher. |

The two black(dark) wires on the top left of your fuse block should have the yellow and white wires that are cut. Must of had headlight issues in the past.
I will clean my wires to get a better look for that particular blue wire.
Most of the blue wires run the idiot lights in the speedo. Blue and blue/green run oil pressure light and generator light. The only other blue wire would run turn indicator light in speedo. Also blue runs high beam light in speedo.
You should also have a 3 post flasher relay. I think black/green/white to fuse block, black/white/green to turn signal switch go to the flasher and this blue/white?
Also I think the 1961 wiring diagram is very close to 1960 having the 8 fuses. The only difference is screw terminal vs. push terminal. Almost all the electrical components are the same. |

The hi/low switch had some issues in the past. The PO cut and re-ran the 3 wires because he could not fish them through the small hole to the switch.
I have a few old headlight harnesses from a Beetle that will replace the ugly wires. Is there supposed to be a grommet for that hole? Looks sharp!
I'm thinking the blue/white wire is the flasher light too. We'll find out Tomorrow when I get the bulbholder and bulbs that I ordered.
Thanks.... This Bus was used as a parts donor for years before I saved it from being a carcass.
Thanks all! _________________ 67 Cal Look Beetle

As we expected, the blue/white wire was for the flasher. Thanks for the help.
Got it wired so I now have running lights, headlights, brake lights and TaDaaaaaa... Turn signals.
The passenger side is flashing quite fast, so I think I have a ground issue in the front bullet. The cone is rusted around the base, and will need a separate ground. Rear is grounded to the battery.
License light is next.
Now that everything is working, the speedo bulbs are frying out one at a time. Time to remove the speedo and swap to 12 volt bulbs. _________________ 67 Cal Look Beetle

I have an 8 fuse block on my 60 single cab vin 566xxx which according to the m code plate is a 02 02 60 and I'm having trouble finding the correct wiring diagram for it as well as tracing all the wires. Looks like some wires may have been changed out to similar but different colors. Does anyone have any info on this. Main reason i ask is because I'm changing out my ignition and speedometer to the original set up because they have an aftermarket ignition and possibly a later bay window speedo installed |

How about you posting a couple of images of the fuse box wiring from different angles?
Here is from our DEC59 built walk thru panel camper conversion:

Did you see this, from up above?
Especially the last paragraph.

I did see that however seeing that i don't have a stock speedo in there yet and the wiring colors don't seem to correspond on the fuse terminal nor the light switch and i have a 2 post flasher that's what was confusing me... also the 61 fuse block shows the wires going to areas that are not on the terminals. Must be one of those in between areas for that year |

Probably 95% of the wiring colors will be the same to five years either side of later 1960 model year. More change due to more or less wires.
Here is what looks like a good example from the gallery with a search for "Fuse box" in the "1956-67 panel van":
