I had this 60 panel for sale here for as low as 2k and no one jumped. I guess I'll just have to do the dirty work myself.

It has seen a hard hit right at the B pillar and then it got the big bondo fix. I like how they filled the side panel untill they got to the pillar, then made a little correction Laughing I don't know when the bulkhead got cut out, was it with the accident damage or the cool windows - a pickup slider cut in half Rolling Eyes
Oh well, here goes...

First thing to go is those stupid windows! I enlarged the holes out to the support ribs and to the joint at the roof. This way my welds have some backing. I put the reinforcing ribs back in place first, they cut out the vertical upright for the windows so I had to cut those out of the donor 59 too.

Here's the new panels. I didn't have any new metal handy so I used what I had in the junk pile. Part of a squareback roof and the long panel from a bay bus.

And the remains of the poor kombi. Some must die so that others can live.

Spent most of yesterday getting things all lined up. Wheel tub, side panel and bulkhead went in nice as 1 piece but the dogleg was tight. At this point I needed a good door to fit the opening to, the old blue one was really worked, pics don't do it justice. I dug this og paint deluxe swr one out of the junkyard. After some work with the portapower and bfh, lots of wood blocks I got everything lined up well. I sure like the ww panels these days, they fit well, pressings are nice, and the e-coating inside and out is a nice touch.
