Stumbled across this buidl thread and enjoyed seeing it all come together. I love Lotus White on our little cars. Cool

Curious about the drivers side outside mirror. It doesn't look original to the pear-shape 67 mirrors. Is that the owner's preference?

Great looking car dude! Exclamation

Thanks for the kudos...
As far as the mirror goes...it is original to the car since Larry has owned it. Larry is the second owner and acquired the car in 1970 with the understanding that the car was untouched, but as this restoration has progressed, little skeletons have been let out of the closet. The car was in an accident between 1967 and 1970 and old repair work was discovered down the driver's side...my guess is that maybe the mirror was swapped at that time.
I have been swapping in good original parts from my personal 67 VW stash and I do have an original pear shaped mirror, but the glass is fogged...so we are sticking with this one.

Got the right rear fender bolted on and the right side running board.
Also wired the tail lights...once again, dug through my stash and found a nice original set of Hellas to replace the sun faded re-pops.

Spent the better part of the day busting down the front bumper and cleaning/detailing every piece-nut-bolt.
It was decided when this resto began that Larry wanted to keep his bumpers instead of replacing because they were original to the car...he likes the little dings and dents ...almost like badges of honor.
Actually the OG chrome shines pretty nicely after a tour on the buffing wheel and nothing is better than OG Cool

Found this little guy hanging around in the garage this morning...almost like a family reunion.
As if he was saying "Willkommen zu Hause Vater"...or "Welcome home Daddy" for our non German speaking folks.

I have those damn things all over the place, I hate them. They cover the outside of the house. They bite, they stink, they leave a yellow, orange stain, and they aren't Lady Bugs. That is probably an Asian Beetle.

Love the car by the way.

Little bit of coolness....Larry found a one-year-only 1967 lighter

Got the engine mocked up with hoses cut and tins fitted...fresh air hoses will be clamped once it's in the car.
I used German cloth fuel lines as original.

Boy, that looks fantastic! Really, really nice. If that had the plug in 67 generator and the original 205k distributor, it would be over the top!!

Nice job

Wow that is sweet. My mother had a clean lotus white 67 in the late 70s/early 80s. I grew up in that car.

Yep...I wish all the original hardware was present. At least it's a Bosch generator. I dug in my stash of VW parts throughout this build grabbing OG pieces when I could, but unfortunately I don't have much OG 67 engine stuff so I was limited to what the car had to start. The Pertronix was requested by Larry (Aircool67)

My parents had a ruby red 67 they bought new...I don't remember the car because I was only a couple years old.
I've owned 2 67's myself...both parts cars but with over 900,000 sold I guess everybody has had a 1967 Bug touch their life. Wink
