|
|
Just got off the phone with Dennis at www.gaugepods.com and he gave me some info.
After I send him a chunk of an "A" post pillar from a donor van....they will...assess the feasibilty and price and let me know.
When we get a minimum of 30, thirty, 3-0 orders..they will make them for us. He said that generally the price is 30-50 each piece when done.
He was not specific yet about configuration but, when I did this before...you had your choice of color (have to send in a color swatch of some sort) and your choice of 2 or 3 gauges (maybe more????????)....
he did not recommend 60 mm at this time but, he did not say it coodnt be done...for those with gauge envy...
If these parameters are acceptable to you and you are SERIOUS about a this item...please respond.... |

I believe strongly we can choose colors to a degree. because our pillars do not have plastic trim to send in a color sample...we may have very few options |

What size gauges did they recommend, or did you state you desired?
I would be in for a couple 2 gauge pods, or a single 3 gauge.

Count me in for one 3 gauge pod. Do we all have to agree on a color or will they do the batch in a variety of colors? My color of choice is black.

Would 1-gauge pods be easier then people could line up as many as they wanted?

I dont belive that we all have to order the same color or number of gauges for our pods...
As a matterof fact I fergot to ask him, because the sheere size of our pillars..if we could possible have more gauges...
I guess he'll have to get the "A" pillar from me first and then Im sure he'll let me know... |

Our "A" pillar is tiny, compared to most vehicles... I hope they can come up with a solution. I'm down for a 3-gauge pod for the drivers side.
BTW, these pods are also an excellent place to mount separate stereo tweeters, I'd like to see a single-place pod available that could be used on the passenger side for this purpose... or, I suppose you could just cut a 2-gauge pod in half, or lop off one from the 3-gauge pod. _________________ '86 Syncro CHC Top AAZ Turbodiesel

I Accept.
Any colour as long as it's black.
Great initiative, thanks _________________ 1988 Vanagon

I'm in for either a 1 or 2 pod, being able to stack them would be cool, then add however many you want. |

Love the idea of one on the right for a tweeter, then 3d on the left, with the lowest a tweeter and 2nd gauges on top. Yes indeedy _________________ Fritz - '86 Syncro Tintop, Camper interior

Count me in for a couple for future projects and to help
hit the minimum buy in. I have everything I need including
the ability to data log right to a sd card with my dash daq
but I have plans on the books for a couple other Vanagon
projects. My old 850R had gauges on the a pillar and it was
nice having the boosts right at eye level. _________________ Bill M
