I'm being presumptuous here but I'd wonder if someone ran a light here or the bugs light turned green, the bug didn't look before entering the intersection and the semi ran the light, impacting the bug.

I see this happen all the time. People sit at a traffic light and wait for the light to turn green for them to enter the intersection. The light turns green and they just go w/out looking or ensuring that the cross traffic stopped. They then get t-boned in a bad accident when the person who was texting ran the light.

Everett lives in Phoenix and my wife and I have really noticed a trend here in Phoenix. People are REALLY running red lights right after they turn red. It use to be maybe one car would keep going after the light turned red. Now, 4-5 cars keep going after the light turns red. Scary.

I feel this might take things off topic but Phoenix is the worst for red light runners.
Last time I looked we are 1st or 2nd in the nation.
A couple times recently I have entered the intersection on a yellow so I know it turned red behind me and I see 2-3 cars behind me still go through.
At big intersections I usually look left and right on a green

Well, not surprising, with the Bug acting as a pillow. :eyeroll:

If you want a cop to show up in California, you better say there was an injury.

Two years ago my wife was rear-ended at a light. Cops didn't want to come. When my wife insisted, they said they would be there in 2-3 hours.

Last year my father-in-law got hit in a roundabout. The cops said they wouldn't even come out unless there was personal injury.

So yeah, at least around here it's not easy to get a cop to do an accident report.

That's astronomically horrible advice. There's a reason they don't want to come out, or why they said they would be 2-3 hours. Their calls are ranked in priority, and obviously a non-injury accident isn't as pressing as other things. If you tell them there is an injury just because you want a cop to show up, you're also going to obviously get medics and/or fire showing up, wasting everyone's time and resources.
Gernerally speaking, you can show up at any police station and fill out an accident report. Both drivers don't even have to go together. Take lots of pictures of the accident, get copies of the other driver's info, and go do the paperwork.
Also, usually a police report has little to do with the decision the insurance company makes. The police can fault the other driver, and your insurance company can decide you're the one at fault. Document everything and hope for the best I guess.

^^^You don't live in California^^^

I had pulled off to the side of the road, to a little turn-out at the edge of town.
There was a driveway off to the side of the road.
Was sending a couple of texts before continuing along; Well off the road.

Another guy was way past me and also pulled over.
He then decided to back up along the shoulder of the road, hitting me.

This was obviously 100% his fault, as you are NOT supposed to back up along the side of the road.

Two cops were in a car chatting right across the street, and saw the whole thing.

Jumped out of my car,
took a pic of the perp's license plate,
and walked over to the cops.

They wouldn't get out of the car.
No injury, no cop involvement.
None whatsoever...

Cops sat there and watched the whole thing until we were done and drove away.

I should have said my neck hurt or something, so they would have filled out a report at least,
Because it turned out to be a 'he said she said', nobody at fault, and my rates raised.

This is California we're talking about here.
People are running into each other every second of every day.

Plus,
Follow the money..
Why would the insurance companies NOT want to raise your rates?
If they can raise rates on both parties in every accident,
That's twice as good for business as when one is at fault and the other isn't..

Not astonomically horrible advice..
Fact.

Canada is a LONG way from California.

I'll stand by my comment. Saying you have an injury when you don't, and wasting resources is a terrible idea. There's a story I remember from long ago about crying wolf.

I realize the geographical distance between California and Canada, but I can't imagine these rules are terribly different anywhere else in North America? I think most places, there's no reason for the police to come out to a fender bender. Why tie up resources for clerical work?

My sister came up on a herd of black Angus cows in the middle of the night, no idea how many she hit but there were 4 dead ones in the morning. Not one panel on her Olds Cutlass escaped damage, she spent the night in hospital under observation, multiple cuts and bruises.

The farmer was on the scene in minutes without being called, a cop showed up and reported that the fences were in good order. When she made a claim with his insurance (turned out to be the same company that she was insured with) Thier exact words to her were "Lick your wounds and forget about it!"

So - was the farmer moving his cows or had they broken out and the cop was a buddy?

It almost doesn't even look real. How did the front get so flat but from the B-pillar back seems to not even have a wrinkle?

That’s really unusual , agreed. Energy usually gets dissipated throughout the frame
