I called the company just to make sure. Yes they will make you a wheel in the 4x130 bolt pattern! So all of you guys wanting to do a German Look project but don't want to machine your discs/drums to a new bolt pattern, you have a choice. A new choice that isn't one of the 8 or so "custom" wheel options that have been available for the VW since 1970.

For the low-low price of $2500 a set for the 'street' rims...Until redrilling drums/rotors is a capital offense that doesn't seem to attractive.

Do you happen to know if you can specify the hubcentric diameter as well?

Yup, but they're light and strong, so they are a performance option. Not only that, but how many wheels have you seen recently that have a 4x130 bolt pattern and weren't one of the same wheels everyone gets out of the back of HotVWs? Well, airkewled has some offerings now...have yous the price of those?

What I got from the phone conversation is that they can do just about anything you need them to, including a custom backspace. So I *think* they can do the hubcentric diameter, since that would be a simple short time on a machine press with an experienced operator.

The wheels I'm running cost about $550 plus shipping. It cost about $200 to get the machine work done, including the press in studs. So yeah, they're much more expensive, but they are a LOT lighter than the cheap wheels I'm running. Unsuspended weight is a big deal if you're trying to get the most performance.

Just seems like a very niche client they'd attract...

Who is trying to get the most performance out of a Beetle that has the stock bolt-pattern brakes? You'd be fairly limited in braking gains without investing in some fancy stuff just to make your expensive 4-130 wheels work...

This wheel itself is state of the art it seems, while the bolt-pattern/brakes they'd be mated to would pale by comparison...

Most going for the least amount of unsprung weight stay with drums and 13" steel wheels in my experience.

That's what I was thinking.

Besides if you hit a bad pothole and damage one of these $2500 rims then what?

Atleast with a common stud pattern set you can go out and buy another set with good second hand tyres for under $500 and be back on the road.

Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. For that price I can lowwer my car, new disc brakes, new wheels, and tires in a Porsche pattern. Oh wait, that's exactly what I did!!!!

Haters got to hate.

I was just happy to see someone who was even offering a wheel set in 4x130. If anyone else hasn't noticed, there really haven't been many new wheels in that bolt pattern in a very long time.

And when you had a change of taste or realized that, though you had $2500 (you didn't really have $2500 to spend on wheels), who would buy your ultra-light speedy 4x130 rims?

They depreciate fast when they are made to your personal specs.

My fear is that people would ask me if I bought them from Les Schwab. Rolling Eyes

Not to bash the OP, just doesn't make alot of sense.

I get where you're coming from, it's awesome that there's more choice if staying 4x130 but as noted most people spending that sort of dough want more than stock brakes.

It's the same deal here in Aus, Simmons wheels makes their range from 15"to 19" in 4x130 with custom offsets too but they are not cheap either.

I've always been a fan of their V4 rims on bugs with nice wide fenders and plenty of dish
