I've installed the GeeBee C-hose and breather hose on my 79. Nice, snug fit, perfect lengths and great clamps.

Now ... about that S-boot ...

these hoses are not supposed to be clamped. the reason for no clamps is to allow the hose to blow off in the event of a backfire. guy's hoses fit very well and should need clamps anyhow, but i recommend no clamps.

GB,

We talked all about your S Boot in this thread.

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4...p;start=20

Many thanks for reproducing it and keeping our VW's on the road.

He did not reproduce them. He is saying he could reproduce them out of silicone. My understanding is if you use the clamps and you have a backfire you can kiss your AFM goodbye.

Were you missing a "not", Scott?

I guess that all that is really needed to handle a backfire is to have at least one hose connection not clamped.

I just got the same two hoses as pictured above in the mail, and installed them. They are an amazing fit around the ends. The lower L shaped one was a little long though. It will serve it's purpose just fine! It'll probably last longer than my engine too Laughing

If they were clamped and there was a back fire, would there be considerable damage?

Probably not. Some hoses might get damaged.

Probably not. Some hoses might get damaged.

it is the airflow metre that can get damaged. if the hose blows in a backfire off the AFM flap will not deflect as explosively, this is why the big hoses are not meant to be clamped.
