Finished electrical and cleaned up the cab as best I could.
Installed new felt in the cab door frames as there was nothing left.
Last three digits of the VIN on the cab door frames and the back of the kick panel.

Everett. No problem with trailering info. You and Richard are my heroes for crossing the desert. Nighttime is usually the best but with the small running lights it's dangerous. Sudfunk did get 80-90 miles on it during the weekend including 2 beer runs and did well. My thanks to all the OCTO people and the way we were treated during the whole time. This was the epic BD trip and show ever. Dick |

BTW, if you Google Sudfunk, this thread comes up 6th. |
That's cool!
Here's a picture I got on the 405 heading to OCTO. Sorry it's kind of blurry, but it was going really fast.

Great to see a sudfunk radio. I found on the net that they made radios from 1950-1967 in Stuttgart. Other than that all info is about the Sudfunk choir. Any history from Europe would be appreciated. |
Hello from Germany,
I stumbled across this old thread and thought I could add some information.
You are right, "Südfunk Radiogeräte" is (better: was) the company of Südfunk-Apparatebau GmbH, Dr. Ing. Robert Ott from Stuttgart and Waiblingen.
It has nothing to do with the Stuttgart Radio Station, although their names are very similar. "Südfunk Radiogeräte" was founded way earlier before the radio station was called "Südfunk" (which was in the 60ies).
Südfunk produced radios from 1946 until 1968 using the name "Südfunk". Later on they did not use their own name but produced radios for the distributors Neckermann and Quelle, until about 1981. I think you call that "OEM-Produktion". Also some Dual and Blaupunkt products were actually built by Südfunk.
Robert Ott came from the WEGA radio company. The Logo and Text of "Südfunk" was still registered until 2003 for Mr. Dr.-Ing. Robert Ott Südfunk-Apparatebau, Löwentorstr. 18-20, 70191 Stuttgart.
Once in a while you find old Südfunk radios on ebxx-Germany. 4 days ago for example, in auction #153096639428 a Südfunk Ultra III 3 Röhrenradio did not sell for 25€. I'll attach some photos below.
Might be interesting for the owner to have a couple Südfunk-radios and some literature to display in the bus, I believe.
Best Regards, Jörg

I was looking for some pics the other day and ended up looking through this older thread... Luckily I posted most of the pics on thesamba, but some I linked to Picasa which I was using for picture hosting at the time. Those Picasa links are dead now, but Picasa became google pics and while the photos all transferred over, the links didn't stay the same. Anyway, the whole album should be here...

Looks like Sudfunk changed hands recently and hope the new owner is happy with it. _________________ David S |
