I'll get a picture tomorrow, but mine has the extra tracks in the floor for a center seat. It looks like linoleum elsewhere on the floor? It also looks like I have the original rubber backed carpet for the back!

Was this an option? I need to find the list of M codes and see what I have...

Any other attachments for these seat rails out there besides the seat?

I understand it was -86 and earlier thing, or just -86? Mine has them for the single seat (which weighs two metric tons) or you could even slide a 3/4 seat into it.

GoWesty has an aticle on the subject.

http://www.gowesty.com/library_article.php?id=1462

Aparently only the 85 and 86 Westys had the provisions for the center seat and also the 84 Wolfsburg models.

I have an 85 Westy with the tracks in the floor, and yes, I have the two metric ton seat as well.

Here is a picture of my tracks, The fridge and stove are out for hook up replacement.

Cool thanks guys! I am just sorting it all out right now and had seen some sites that showed the center chair and wondered if it was an option for the tracks or not.

my 85 has these tracks. I would love to see and get a hold of a middle seat. We have2 kids and a dog and seating is going to be tough. It would be nice to get the grandparents or another couple in the van as well. plans for the future. I assume there is tracks in the floor for a 3/4 seat. Interesting!!!!

On the topic of the seat tracks, anybody with the single seat for the tracks ever added or have seen added to the seat a support bar for the addition of a 3 point belt? I am sure a good welder could do it but I haven't seen this yet - and of course swapping in a front seat to gain a head rest.

Don't some of the newer mini vans with a removable center seat have the shoulder belt? I don't pay close enough attention to them but I am sure something is out there that already has it built in.

My 84 Wolfsburg has the optional double seat. It slides right in pretty easy. I hardly use it since we only camp in it.
It is nice, however, when my wife and I go with friends on day trips. It seats six adults pretty comfortable...

My '86 Tourist Delivery Westy had the factory installed seat tracks...but no center seat. I found a brown 2 seat at Pick and Pull. Cleaned it up and can now haul 6 passengers (or a golf foursome with clubs and pull carts) around when necessary.

When I replaced the '86 with an '87 Syncro Westy...I removed the center seat tracks from the '86...and installed 'em in the '87. As I recall - I moved the tracks forward about 2" so I could lay the lower bed down flat with the center seat installed for more cargo/bed room.

Can't use the fridge with the center seat in - but can access all other storage and stove/sink. Center seat also makes a great couch at the campground.

When I replaced the '87, I pulled the center seat tracks, but have yet to reinstall these in the '90 Syncro Westy.

Thinking about adding some wood flooring - and perhaps swapping the brown seat for gray. I think Kirk/NorthWesty had a couple of gray "leftovers"...

I'm interested in this option for my '84 Westy. It's not a Wolfsburg so doesn't have the tracks installed. I've been told that all vans have the mounting holes for the tracks.

Anyone done this mod and found that to be true? Are they obvious under the carpet, or do you have to drill through the flooring? My carpet is original but glued down so wanted to do a little research before I tear it up.

If this will work and anyone has tracks and/or center seats sitting around, I'm interested!

Any photos or descriptions would be great. thx

You need to remove your flooring and cut it to accept the tracks. They bolt directly onto the metal of the floor. There should be temp black plastic bolts in the holes now. You likely can see the captive nuts with the plastic bolts sticking thru them if you lie on your back and look up at the floor where the tracks go.

My 85 has the single jump seat. I removed it, placed it on a mover's dolly. Nice garage chair!
