Very nice job on the Gunze-Sangyo. I had to wander over to the Oval threads to read about Ingrid and it seems you are doing the same top notch work on her too.
Getting the ride height seems to be an issue with a lot of kits. I had to deal with that on the IMC builds that I'm currently (slowly) working on - will see how I did once I glue the bodies on. |

Here's the update after getting the rear end down a bit.
I really haven't gotten an awful lot done on the 1/1 scale Ingrid, though I did tear down the little wooden shed I had before and built this larger building for the restoration. _________________ 1956 Standard Sedan |

the AFV Club 1/35th type 128 schwimmwagen is finished. it is a good quality kit with great detail and fit of parts. only shame is it didn't come with the more prevalent narrow tyres as an option.

Well done!
I'm in the middle of building the old Italeri and Tamiya (first mold) Typ 166s and they are nothing near as nice as this AFV kit.
While on the subject of Schwimmers, does anyone have a lead on a 1/16 Eduard Schwimmwagen kit? Since I've got a Beetles and Kubels in that scale I really need to finish the set with a 166. _________________ 1956 Standard Sedan |

thanks. yes, those early kits are showing their age now. forgot to say that the afv kit has a seperate engine lid so could have this open using a tamiya vw engine maintenance set.
good luck hunting down an eduard schwimmer - there's always the torro

I really like yours, it's a great looking machine.
AFV did a really good job on the wheel details, much better than the old Tamiya and Italeri kits. Even the Tamiya 1/16 kits have wheels and brake drums that aren't as accurate as they could be.
I've given some thought to the R/C Schwimmer, but I will probably be able to find an Eduard kit somewhere, sometime for about the same money. _________________ 1956 Standard Sedan |

the wheels aren't afv they're panzerart resin pieces. they are very good mouldings and they do canvas tops (kubel and schwimm) and balloon tyres too. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

great job on the schwimmwagen!
i finally got the porsche jr diesel tractor done, added wires for the battery and the starter, scratch built a sicklebar mower, turned out nice, so 1/2 way done, now got to build the bus to haul it
note that the seat is solid steel, with no spring under, so rides rough, i did drill holes to drain out rain, so you dont get a case of the "wet ass", also funny that is has a bench seat over the fender, every tractor i ever drove has a warning sign "no passengers!" aaahhh, the good old days.

That tractor is great, I wish I could find a 1/1 scale version in my price range! _________________ 1956 Standard Sedan |

Very nice. I love the detail of the oil spot on the cobblestones. A VW marked its spot. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Here are four "vintage" 1/35 Kubels and Schwimmers that have finally seen the light of day. I bought these at an antique/junk shop many, many years ago and thought I should get them put together. They're Italeri and first generation Tamiya kits and lack a lot in both detail and quality, but it's fun to work on them anyway. Lots of small stuff yet to do and then on to getting them dirty......
Also I found this 1/16 Tamiya parts car, so I now have another powertrain and a correct floorpan for the next big Beetle!

^^ ah, the nostalgia. takes me back to being 11 and discovering tamiya kits.
whilst making the 1/35th type 128 I had been looking at loads of pics of Dr P and his crew, in lab coats, collar & tie and homburg/trilby hats, and thought a figure would make a change. I located miniarts french civilian set which has a suitable figure (although really too tall and slim for the good dr!)
they are releasing this set soon which will provide some useful additions...

Your version of Dr. Porsche looks pretty good! (I run away from figures, a whole other kind of model building!)
I decided to slap these old kits together so I could decide on the proper color for camo on a Tiger I I'm working on. The two desert camo schemes probably will change again if I decide what to do about my Tunisian color scheme...... _________________ 1956 Standard Sedan |

I love seeing the old Tamiya Kubel. I cut my teeth on them when I was a kid. I'm looking forward to the finished product.
I built this Kubelrod from a Tamiya back in the '90s. This was before people built actual volksrods, and it was a new idea!
In fact the photos are over 20 years old. The hubcaps are deluxe bus door panel snaps.
This is actually a repost. I need to get some new photos. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

wow, that's radical and visionary too!
came across this one the other day - 1/9th scale kubel rod, nicely thought out and I like the custom morphing camo paint...

by the way, BB is this the matching schwimmer rod? just don't go in the water as it might ride a little too low!
