zebedee - Trying to figure out how to make a cobbled street base at the moment.

cobble street sections are readily available in 1/35th - such as miniart and FoG
I picked up some cobble sheets from my local train/model shop and games workshop might be another option...you can even get silicon moulds for casting your own individual cobbles if you're feeling masochistic enough.

nice kubel - whose kit is it?

Its a Tamiya kit.

I think i'm going to stamp my own cobbles into thinly rolled out milliput clay. Had a bit of a try on a small 2" section and it might work OK.
I cut a few brick sized sections out while it was still soft and they seemed to turn out alright.

Really nice BoB! I love all the decals.

That's an interesting VW emblem on your pickup. I familiar with the open 'VW' and 'W' emblem used on Bandai's, but have never seen a 'closed' emblem like that before.

Here's a few pictures of the completed Tamiya '66. First a photo of the reliable little car we built and drove for a time.

I've built a number of Tamiya aircraft kits and this VW was just like the airplanes--without any drama and truly relaxing to work on.

No kidding!

I had to double-take to see that it wasn't the actual car!

Through the years, I have built several VW models, the Tamiya ones being, by far the best in many ways.

Herbie was a refurb from an old model built ages ago

thanks. These stretched pick up is part of a diorama that I have in mind. The idea is to recreate a rally scene with a Seat 124. In the meantime, I put it to work hauling other cars....
Here are some pictures of the model.
I used Porsche 356 wheels that I modified to make them deeper (reverse rims would be more appropriate).

Great wheel and tire choice for the Herbie.

For the piuckup, I probably would have cheated and used two kits!

Thanks, I wanted to recreate the look of 'Herbie goes Bananas'. I really like those deep dish (reverse rims) wheels. I think they came from a Chevrolet.

Very cool! The paint colors and decals add a nice period touch.
